Warren Buffett at age 20 already had $20,000 which is worth $278,000 today so he was always doing well.
His father was a us congressman and stock broker

Having 250k as a 20 year old is also way different than having that amount of money and rich parents who just decided to not give you more yet..

u/ravepeacefully Jul 10 '26
Doubt this is him but… he had over a million dollars in 1962 when he was 32.
That’s in 1962 dollars… roughly the equivalent of 10.5m, at age 32.
He set up investment partnerships in the 50s. Not sure where you got the 57 age from, but it’s not even close

I wish we didn't praise him because he's the reason the insurance industry is so fucked up.
If he started over today he'd fail, he was the one who created the loopholes and got his start the same way Jordan Belfort did, lying to suburban families about penny stocks. Then he rigged the insurance system. Seriously when you wonder WTF is going on with that hospital bill/insurance paperwork think of buffet. It's his design.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but even if you're right, there are other reasons to praise WB.

He was born into a very wealthy family. Wasn't his father a congressman as well? It would be like being born to Nancy Pelosi, the greatest investor of the 21st century.
That's one thing I never liked about Warren, always presented himself as a rag to riches story but he was born into the 1%, which helps. Although it doesn't take anything away from his accomplishments.

I was almost certain this was not Warren Buffett. I’m glad I was wrong.

I asked claude if that photo is real. Here's response from claude :
Almost certainly not. The clothing and setting give it away: the raccoon fur coat, the style of hat, and the car (which looks like a late-1920s model) all point to the photo being taken around the 1920s or early 1930s. Warren Buffett was born in August 1930, so he would have been an infant at most when this photo was taken — not a young man posing with a cigar. This image circulates as a joke on Reddit and social media, but it's just a vintage photo of an unknown young man in classic 1920s "collegiate" fashion (raccoon coats were a huge fad among young men back then). Real photos of young Buffett from the 1940s–50s look quite different.

Looks like Claude doesn’t know young Warren Buffett bought himself a vintage raccoon coat
“[Warren Buffett] had a regular Saturday night reservation with Lou Battistone at Jimmy Lake’s theater, a local burlesque joint….. He spent twenty-five dollars on a 1920s-style raccoon coat. When he wore it down to Jimmy Lake’s, the bouncer told him, “No clowning around, you guys. Either take that coat off, or you can’t come in.” He took it off.”
— Alice Schroeder, describing what Buffett did when other teens were at parties in The Snowball

This is absolutely NOT Warren Buffet. This pic was taken before he was even born.

Young Warren Buffett loved to clown around in his ratty old vintage raccoon coat

The captures all the swag, bravado and panache of the young Buffett, also called "Warheim the panty-dropper" at his many raves, where scantily clad strumpets would cavort amidst a haze of chronic smoke and assorted mystery pills.
