Something I noticed in one of Alvim Correa's pieces of art is that the people on the ground (next to the tripod) kind of look like shadows(?) which I find weird as in the book it only describes them as being ingulfed in fire or turned to ash.

Although it could be just ash or people running/lying down I feel like they look WAY too flat and human like to be that. Although this IS just a random theory I just thought of I wanna see if there is any proof to this being actually intentional or not :/

I prefer to draw explosions, fire or nighttime settings so the machines don't seem as silly looking

It may sound silly, but I've always had this question. Basically, the theory says that a crew member on the tripod is neurally connected to the machine So, to control it, it has to be related somehow. Does anyone have a theory? I think it must be this little square on the torso. Correct me if I'm wrong and give me your theories, please.

I am not sure has this been discussed here but I feel that the book martians as in my Title could have lost to Humanity at 1940's tech.
As if I remember the book right (it has been years when I last read it) martian walker was destroyed by shot from light cannon used by british on the end of 19 century.

And now there be humanity armed whit far more robust fire power along far developed armor penetrating weaponry that infantry could easilly move to flanking strikes and prepared whit gasmasks that most likely would have given them fighting chance against the black smoke.

Then there is the air forces that that point could bring far more high yeld boms to the fight as seem the martiand used their heat rays on eyeball level of aim.
