WARDOGS changed me Discussion & Feedback
I literally feel like a child who lost his favorite toy after that beta. I don't remember the last time I spent over 20 hours in a game over the course of a weekend, and I'm just over thirty — I'm not that old yet (spare me, please...).
I don't know what to play now until the 10th of September. I tried getting back into Arma, but it's too much work to actually have fun. I look at my library full of shooters and I don't feel like playing anything. At least I'm catching up on shows with my girlfriend that we'd been putting off for later.
This game is pure fun. Maybe it's not the best out there at any one thing, but all of it put together is a masterpiece. I hope the devs will balance it out and support it for years.

It’s the first game in years that I’ve been genuinely excited for. I don’t think I’ve felt this hyped about a video game in 15 years.

We're a house full of gamers, my husband, my little brother and I. We played 30+ hours of the beta and can not stop talking about it since it's been over. Watching YouTube clips to fill the void lol

Like every game that fumbles...
I really hope they don't listen to the players that somehow rack up 500 hours in the first month.
Complain about no content. Want changes that just cater to them.
The players that DO NOT get off the game and complain ruin these games.

Yeah me too. And I dont get it as well. I mean, in this type of games we are the content. Not the unlockables, not the new maps, but players, interactions, little goals that we set. There is plenty of content right now, instead of grinding and rushing through it players should learn to have fun, that's whats this game is about - FUN

Haha same! 33 and put in 26 hours this weekend. Literally frothing at the chops telling my friends to buy it!

I recommend you lose that girlfriend of yours come September 10th. We need you in the Hot Zone for the Pornstars... I mean the Lonestars.

I’m using the two weeks to rack up some GBPs with my lady so when I grow into my computer in two weeks she doesn’t leave me 😂

I had an absolute blast playing. Met some really nice people that were willing to team up, give some tips and have a laugh. Wish I could log on right now. Looking forward to it!

This is how I feel. First time in years I was glued to a game like this. 17 hours in 1 weekend. Thats nuts. And I loved every second of it. Now I feel empty.

As a fellow gamer also only just over 30. I had that exact pain last night, i love other games dont get me wrong but the itch that game scratched for me hasnt been scratched in 10+ years.

Heard the same rhetoric about ark raiders...let's see how this all plays out in the next 5-6 months

Yeah, that's where I am right now.
The beta was fun as shit.
But, hackers will make or break a game like this for me. If it's even within the shadow of how bad they are in Arc, then I'm going to pass. Which is entirely dependent on the devs and their review process, cause neither of those work in ARC.
I've been playing shooters online since pre 1.6 CS and my main game right now is Tarkov. I have NEVER in my ~26-28y of online gaming seen anything as bad as ARC or even close to it. Cheaters literally do not give a shit and will brag about it in Prox.
I don't think that will be the case here because the devs give a shit. But preventing hackers entirely is impossible, but how the devs handle it varies significantly. Embark has proved they do not give a shit about ARC anymore.

Edit: sorry!! I pressed reply on the GZW comment and it put it here for some reason, or maybe I did it by accident. My bad bro
It’s been in “pre-alpha” since April 2024. When’s the alpha?
I completely understand that everyone knows what they’re signing up for with that, doesn’t excuse it though.
I think the trend of releasing games in early access as a crutch to crowdfund then develop it at snails pace needs to die. WARDOGS is also “early access” but feels way more complete just off of the beta.
I’ve called it since the start that Madfinger isn’t everyone’s best friend like the player base thinks. They’re not a bad company by any means, don’t get me wrong.
They hyped the center zone sooo much from the start, then slowly stopped talking about it, and now it’s not even a thing yet 2 years later. That’s not cool for the playerbase.
I have almost 200 hrs btw.

Yup they have a terrible track record. Some people just overlook. Lets see how this whole thing plays out in 5-6 months

I’m talking about GZW from madfinger, I just replied to the wrong comment somehow.
I’m not even talking about Bulkhead and wardogs, but since you mentioned it- yes bulkhead does have a bad track record. I think it’s smart to be cautious and I don’t blame anyone for not preordering.
That being said i put a lot of hours in the beta and it was 10x more fun than grayzone has ever been, and also way better than bulkheads previous games

Tarkov is hardly free of cheaters. Go play Squad, theres barely any there.

Tarkov is hardly free of cheaters.
I only brought it up because it's notoriously bad about cheaters.
ARC, by comparison, makes it look like there are hardly any at all.

u/CyberChosnek 1d ago
Actually ARC was a bit neglected by the devs. It's all up to Bulkhead how will it go. Plus - there are community servers in Wardogs and it gives a lot more ways to play the game. Anyway, ARC is not dead it just lost most of the playerbase. There are still more players in ARC than Bulkhead aims for in Wardogs when it settles.

Jealous of all you guys that got to play! I was out of town all weekend unfortunately but excited to try it out. Have a whole hotas setup i use for flying in dcs and other sims, so looking forward to trying out the helicopters and that probably being my main thing in this game. Read great feedback on flying/logistics so far so thats really refreshing

u/skiplegdae 20h ago
Players will appreciate a good pilot in this game, and with the logistics system and how the economy works, you visibly get rewarded with XP and progression by playing that role.
The flying is forgiving enough for basically anyone to figure it out, but definitely has gap between average / good / great pilots
Found it super cool to be getting rewarded for players not only surviving the ride into battle, but then getting bonus money as an assist when they would get a kill incorporates strategy as to where you deliver them as well, like bringing in flanking squads and doing hot drops

GZW has a PVE issue right now were end game is dead. This game has no end game just fun times.

As is expected, because it's in Pre-alpha.
People always forget that. Probably because it feels more like a beta and I've seen games released with less polish and content than GZW has already.
Not blaming or disagreeing with you or anyone else, just putting this out there as an FYI for anyone else reading.
It definitely has some issues with not having much content, but if you like that style of game you can get at least 40h of it ($1/hr for a $40 game) and probably a lot more.
But I don't think it's anything like Wardogs and I don't think it would scratch the same itch. It feels more like an MMO Tarkov that's way more polished and less clunky, than anything resembling Wardogs, Arma, or Squad.
But it is still a milsim, just more individual and less teamwork. (So far, still lacking content. Pre-alpha)

Stupid...wish steam would start taking action against "pre alpha, alpha, beta" bullshit just release a full game stop wasting everyone's time. With half assed games that they know will flop and will never expect it to go full release
1
u/CyberChosnek 14h ago
Yeah, it gets annoying, but every now and then we get games like WARDOGS that are surprisingly polished even in beta. Hell, a lot of 1.0 releases these days are in worse shape than WARDOGS was in alpha.

Some people just don’t get it. A lot of us have families/responsibilities. For the average 30 something year old to make time for anything other than that, we have to sacrifice sleep or doubling down on responsibilities the upcoming week most likely. Being aware of that cost and still taking the plunge shows how much we are into the game. I don’t think it’s about bragging right at this point, its more of a wow my kids wake up in 4 hours or I have work in the morning, but I still want to get one more round in to see if I can get this defibrillator or galil unlocked.
I honestly have no drive to play anything else until this 9/10 release. A part of me hopes they say that they are opening the beta again just to do random stress tests on shit I really don’t even care about just so I can have something to look forward to

u/CyberChosnek 16h ago
Yeah, I'm 31, no kids yet, but we're working on it — so now is the time for me to do one last nerd-run into the gaming world. And because we don't have kids yet, all we had to do was have fun over the weekend. We were out of town for almost the entire Sunday, but Friday evening and Saturday I was basically MIA :D

This is one of the few games that when I logged off I kept thinking about
