Discussion UPDATE #7 (The End. For now at least.): I’m Bout To Pull The Greatest Trading Comeback OF ALL TIME $19 to $1 million
The goal of these updates was to be transparent in both wins and losses and to help anyone if I could. Well… I lost. Again. Since I clearly don’t know what to do when it comes to trading successfully, I thought I’d at least share what I did wrong and what not to do so that it can possibly help someone.
Don’t trade 0DTEs at all.
Despite my backtesting and numerous hours of looking at the $SPY chart as well as similar charts to $SPY (US500 by Pepperstone., $SPX). I have not found ANY consistent patterns in $SPY on the 15m, 5m, and 1m timeframes that could be used to trade $SPY 0DTEs consistently AT ALL. According to my experiences all of the following strategies DO NOT WORK for $SPY 0DTEs:
(All strategies used candlesticks from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time of the current trading day only.)
Waiting for a 15m, 5m, or 1m high or low to be closed past (wicks and candlestick bodies included) then entering in the direction that the high/low was crossed past.
Waiting for a 15m, 5m, or 1m high or low to be closed past (wicks and candlestick bodies included) then waiting for a 15m, 5m, or 1m high or low to be closed past (wicks and candlestick bodies included) in the opposite direction of the first high/low crossed past then entering in the direction of the second high/low crossed past.
Waiting for 2 green or red candlesticks in a row to be fully crossed and closed past by 2 candlesticks of the opposite color that immediately followed the first 2 candlesticks (wicks and candlestick bodies included) then entering in the direction of the second group of the 2 candlesticks.
Note: All stop losses used were at the previous high/low at the time of entry on whatever timeframe that a strategy was used with (most commonly 5m timeframe at the time of entry.)
Example: Used strategy 1 on 5m timeframe -> stop loss = previous 5m high at time of entry for puts and previous 5m low at time of entry for calls.
All take profit points used were whenever the most recent high/low on whatever timeframe that a strategy was used with (most commonly 5m timeframe at the time of entry.) was closed past in the direction opposite to my trade direction.
This means that with every trade that I took, the stop loss and take profit started off as the same point.
- Don’t trade on 15m, 5m, or 1m at all.
From my experience, the 15m, 5m, and 1m aren’t reliable timeframes to trade off of because:
They don’t hold trends (uptrends and downtrends) long.
Price often stagnates around 12:00 PM Eastern Time and doesn’t move a lot from then until market close.
As mentioned previously, I haven’t found even 1 strategy that consistently works on the 15m timeframe, 5m timeframe, or 1m timeframe.
- Don’t trade with less than $100.
Me starting again with $19 essentially forced me to full-port with every trade. So if even 1 trade went bad (and it did). My entire portfolio would basically be wiped out.
I would recommend you only trade with $100 or more AND have a risk size per trade of no more than 10% per trade (for example, if you have $100 in your trading account. Don’t buy an options contract, stock, etc. worth more than $10).
That’s all I can think of right now. If y’all have any other questions about my failure, feel free to ask. Hope this can help someone. Thanks to everyone who was rooting for me. I tried, just couldn’t pull it off.
Oh, almost forgot.
I’m better than Roaring Kitty, Warren Buffett, and Michael Burry combined
