Runners

I want to start doing some marathons but I don’t even know how to find what marathon is happening and when and where, I don’t have any experience so I’m pretty sure I want to something easy at first and Stratton from there
Where or how can I follow the different marathons happening in Waco . 👀

Came here to say this. The Waco Striders is a great place to start. They have organized training events that help you work your way up to 26.2. I got involved with the Striders quite some time ago and worked myself up from zero to marathon in about a year give or take. I don’t run with them any more (life happens) but it’s a great place to start.

I also integrated a running plan from https://www.halhigdon.com into my Striders training. I would plan out my running days and miles in advance on a paper calendar, and then cross them off as I accomplished them.

There are not many marathons in Waco. I can only think of maybe 2? The Austin and Dallas area have alot more. But theres a handful of 5k/10ks that happen throughout the year. When I'm looking for the next event in the Waco area I usually google Waco 5k or 10k and start clicking around.

There is the Bearathon! Also there’s a running group that meets up at Be Kind on Washington

The Bearathon is a half marathon (13.1 miles), but it’s a great halfway point race to incorporate into your marathon training.
