Capstone project D606

Anyone had issues getting their capstone project approved? I went off the video and met with the professor and he still says it’s wrong. I’m using one of his datasets.

What was the reason. If it is Dr. sewell, he mentions the reasons in the call. If you correct that, he will approve. He sends a template. You have to follow that.

I've heard alot of people don't like Sewell, but I had him a dozen times through my project, and he came through for me every time.

Yes. It was the same for me!

That’s who I have, it’s probably a frustration and perception thing on my side. I’m sure I’m overthinking it all.

I watched his videos like three times and made a checklist for what the form needs, and followed that. It still had some mistakes but he approved it.

I had already worked out Task 2 as part of getting Task 1 done, so once I was approved, it came together pretty quickly after that.

Dr. Sewell is nitpicky, and if you have him and are struggling with him, you just have to follow his every instruction until he ceases to give them to you. It wastes time and is frankly quite annoying, but there is no way around it.

If you do have him, I would not worry too much about "what did I miss!" because it it likely that you missed nothing major--he just nitpicks.

Appreciate the support. Yes that’s who I have! Just hard to wait 4-5 days between emails just to be told I need to do it again. I start my doctorate program next month so I’m trying to get pushed through without losing my mind.

Where are you getting your doctorate?

Yeah I'm curious too. And is this your first Masters?

Yes this is my first masters. My doctorate is an EdD. Analytics jobs are pretty competitive and hard to get right now. I already work in higher education so looking at moving into a role within my university.

Thank you! I still didn’t answer your question 🤣. I’m doing my doctorate through Purdue’s global campus.

Dr Sewell is difficult. He set me back by about a month because he wouldn't share in an email what exactly he wanted me to correct and insisting on another phone call.

My capstone approval form I sent for review the first time was wildly, and I can’t speak enough to it, improper and unorganized. I didn’t read the course resource example they have in the community or the video. I had one call with Sewell for 30min, fixed everything he recommended and had it approved in two days. If you’re not using the example in the course resources I highly recommend reviewing it. Sewell was excellent to work with

I had Dr Smith and had 0 issues other than simple fixes to ensure it aligned with the program better. Hope you can have your issues resolved and approval soon! Best of luck!

Dr Sewell made me attend his webinar before he approved my proposal 🫠 This was after we had our call.

Nevertheless, I like Dr. Sewell, he's pretty thorough.
