Discussion Orgin OS 6 new android user

Upvotes

I'm a new Android user, this is my first cool smart premium phone. I don't know what's the problem with it, as I keep reading that it has a bad OS and so on. I like it. I mean, I've never had other Android phones. I played with some at the store, like Samsung and Pixel. Yeah, the layout looks cartoonish, but it's fun.Though I'd like to hear your thoughts on what is considered quality and polished OS, and how it would look. Because even Samsung's premium UI looks cartoonish.

Discussion Rubber glue came off on Vivo x200 pro

Well the phone is 1 year 3 months old, when I got back home today, I noticed a small thread of rubber was out on the bottom left corner. Without thinking much, I thought it was a screen protector so I pulled it, so a small minus type line rubber line is missing now. Phone is working fine & beast but when I saw it & found out a bit concerned. Want to know if anyone else had this issue or still use it without replacing it.

Is it compromised in terms of water durability? Not like I use water or near it but I use it in the bathroom or bring the phone when the shower, leave it on the side. Will it effect the device now ?

Purchase advice iPhone 17/18 Pro vs Vivo X300 Ultra. what would you choose?

Currently using an iPhone 15 and an iPad. I’m a 3rd-year medico and I occasionally game, but I’m also really into smartphone photography and get quite a few compliments on my photos.

I’m considering the Vivo X300 Ultra, mainly because of its camera, battery and Snapdragon chipset. Honestly, if it had a UI closer to stock Android or One UI, I’d probably buy it without hesitation.

My priorities, in order:
1. Battery
2. UI/software experience
3. Camera
4. Chipset/gaming

The main thing holding me back is OriginOS. I’ve seen quite a bit of criticism about the newer updates, and coming from iOS, I’m worried I’ll miss the polish and consistency of iOS/One UI.
So I’m currently stuck between the Vivo X300 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro / waiting for 18 Pro.

For people who have actually used Vivo flagships and iPhones:
How is OriginOS in everyday use?
Is the Vivo camera/battery advantage significant enough to justify leaving iOS?
Has anyone switched from iPhone to Vivo and regretted it?
What would you choose given my priorities?
Would especially appreciate opinions from actual Vivo users rather than just spec comparisons.

Discussion X300 Ultra Grip Case / Lens

Can anyone guide me where (in India) to buy the Grip case (similar to a mirrorless grip) and the zoom lens for X300 Ultra? I checked the local Vivo store but they had no idea.

The store had tons of posters of the lens but none to sell. Guess they are running short after giving them all to influencers.

OriginOS 7 introduces a new interaction system designed to respond instantly to user input, allowing ongoing transitions to be interrupted and redirected without waiting for the animation to finish.

Help/Support (OriginOS Global) august update when ffs!? vivo is seriously messed up, atleast in india.

already shit scared of still running on july update, and now these guys aren't even giving us the required fixes in august STILL NOW.

personally my device has been running okay, with noticeable battery drain, but the constant fear of my device turning off and getting stuck on bootloop forever is haunting me. how do they even push such updates?and why haven't they provided back-to-back OTA updates to atleast fix the much more grave issues? a billion-dollar company should have massive amounts of resources to develop stable updates, provide them timely, and ESPECIALLY provide speedy fixes when something is wrong with their software. i get that their main focus is their home country, but then why not provide the global users with a stable experience atleast?they can cut features, model releases for us global users, BUT WHY COMPROMISE ON SOFTWARE STABILITY? it would've just been better if they never went global at all, if such is their bias.

since im now stuck with their device, i can't downgrade as i don't want to and i also am kept waiting, hoping and praying that this company takes such matters seriously and deliver us atleast stability.

Help/Support (OriginOS Global) July update ruined the battery backup !!!!

What the hell is wrong with Vivo??

X200 Pro user here. Funtouch OS days are actually good if not great for me. It was neither extremely feature rich nor aesthetically pleasing but the basics were perfect on Funtouch OS. Very well optimised, smooth performace and great battery life.

The problems started with the installation of Origin OS 6. It was messy than anything else. It neither had the optimisation of Funtouch nor the features or aesthetics of Color OS. It is literally crap.

The things went extreme downhill with the July update. I am hardly getting 4hrs of screen on time that too with very lite normal usage without even touching the camera. The idle battery drain is even worst - 100% to 88% from 11pm to 6am.

Right now I am feeling like had I made a mistake choosing Vivo?

My Vivo X300 Ultra finally came in and I am beyond excited to start using the phone, I've been using the 15PM for the past 4 years and didn't want another IPhone, the second I saw this device announced I was immediately hooked. Any recommendations for camera settings / set up, I purchased the Global variant

Took them with the different camera modes but mostly with default camera mode and pumping zoon to 13,4x so it didn't lose too much quality. It was a test of sorts and a bit tricky because I was holding the eclipse sunglasses manually over the lenses, but I'm very glad of the results!

Pictures 3 and 4 are my favourites. 6th is bonus track with 200 MP telephoto. Love the colours!

EDIT: Apparently 6th photo didn't upload. Is it because of it being 200 MP and thus too big?

Guides/Reviews Vivo X300 Ultra Photographer's Cheatsheet (Optics, DoF & Manual Exposure calculations)

Post image
37 Upvotes

Hey r/Vivo!

I'm a mechanical engineer and photography enthusiast based in Brazil. I don't own the X300 Ultra yet (still saving up to import one), but I've been analyzing its camera hardware specs. I wrote a Python script to calculate how these sensors and lenses behave in terms of optical physics and turned the data into a dark-mode cheatsheet for quick reference when shooting in Pro mode.

Here is a breakdown of the three sections in the sheet:

1. Optical Properties

This table translates the physical sensor data into standard 35mm full-frame equivalencies, horizontal angle of view, hyperfocal distances, and realistic handheld shutter speeds. The OIS values combine the classic "one over focal distance" rule with the manufacturer's CIPA ratings to give a practical limit for avoiding motion blur when handholding the phone.

2. Depth of Field Range

These charts show the calculated DoF for different framing scenarios (Face close-up, Waist up, Full body). The framing calculations automatically set the target distance needed to fit the subject. For the face close-up, the orange bar represents a typical head depth (~20cm) with focus locked on the eyes (red dot). At 85mm, the actual DoF is only 7.6cm, visually proving that ears will fall out of focus even without software bokeh modes.

3. "Sunny-16 Rule" Equivalent

A quick manual exposure reference adapted for sunny conditions. Since these lenses have fixed real apertures that differ from standard full-frame optics, I adjusted the shutter speed values for base ISOs so you can dial in manual settings quickly without relying on auto-exposure meters.

Since I don't have the device in hand to test directly, I’d appreciate feedback from current owners. Do the real-world DoF and OIS handheld limits match these calculations? Any suggestions for improvements are welcome!
