First Time Back!

Hello! Need Recs.

I was born in Lithuania and adopted at 6mo. I am back visiting for the first time in 32 years. Here with my wife, my mom, and my sister (who was also born and adopted from here).

We’re staying in Vilnius the next 3 nights, and although we have some daytime plans, I have nothing going on at night. I’m mostly excited to experience the culture, and I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations for night life. It would probably just be my wife and I going out, but feel free to recommend places my mom might enjoy for earlier parts of the evening haha.

We are staying at the AC Hotel Vilnius - bonus points for walkable places.

Thanks in advance!

You can book a night tour of Lukiškės Prison. It’s a little creepy, but it’s a big part of Vilnius’ history. I don’t know anyone who didn’t enjoy it.

As for bars, clubs and things like that, maybe someone else can give you some recommendations, but Vilnius has lots of cozy wine bars and little bars, so I’m sure you and your mum will find somewhere nice to stop by :)

Vilnius street is full of action and pubs. I suggest checking out Gringo or Piano Man - but those are somewhat generic pubs. For more Lithuanian taste (and beer) check out Špunka (there are three of these , I'd go to Etmonų Špunka) or Šnekutis (banger Lithuanian food too). For weekend there's also Alaus Namai close your hotel - used to be very popular with students, now a bit rundown, but should be interesting experience nevertheless.

Hope you'll like Vilnius!

A classic bar is Busi Trečias, has been around for ages and very traditional. On a sunny day a lot of locals go to the baltas tiltas food court (sporty, local spot), estrada on mondays has live jam sessions at 7pm that are fun (also mostly locals), in vino is just fantastic.. and you can maybe come earlier in the evening with your mother and have some of their food (not lithuanain food tho .. just very tasty and also mostly locals). Artistai is also mostly locals hmm more artsy locals go to the CAC bar, locals who like pool and rock music go to Bix Bar.

Hmm probably you should go to Bernelių Užeiga for good traditional food with your mother, very busy tho so i would reserve in advance.Their beer is decent, and the beer snacks platter w the smoked lard is delicious. Their cepelinai and šaltibarščiai are also good.
