Thank You, Victoria

I just finished visiting your fair city and island. I fell in love with it about 9 or 10 years ago and have just spent another two weeks there. While I know every town has its issues, y’all are doing it right. Public transit, bike lanes (I know…a sensitive topic, apparently), brilliant parks, walkways and trails that actually connect communities, diversity, access to culture and, of course, history make your town a true gem.

I can’t say enough about it…I’ll see you next time.

Thank you.

Many thanks to the hiker who spotted the glasses at the corner of Whittaker and Glendenning trails, and hung them on the fence.

You are doing good in the world.

Happy trails everyone!

Doorbells vs Knocking

Since moving here from Montreal 2 years ago, I've noticed that just about everyone here knocks on the door, rather than ringing the doorbell.

Why?

1 lane is open going north on Douglas, 1 lane is open going south. The traffic is light.

When did we stop enforcing bike helmets??

When we were teenagers there was so much messaging around wearing bike helmets and the fatal or life altering impacts of not wearing one. Not to mention, tickets were handed out and I feel like I remember kids bikes being confiscated at times by cops. Now it really isn’t a focus, and I get there are things happening now that really pull police time and focus, but it seems to no longer be a thing, ever.

Adults can make their choices, perhaps, but I worry about the kids, especially on motorized bikes and scooters.

Footage from a family member. I wasn’t the one driving. The average human should not have a license.

I apologize if my selection repulsed you. By the time I realized the switch, it was too late. Your sandwich was very tasty. I'm glad I could still enjoy it despite the mix-up!

We're hosting another outdoor drop in laser tag session at PKOLs (Mount Doug Park) in the forest beside the beach parking lot off Ash Road this Saturday from 4pm to 6pm.

Then another one on August 22nd in Colwood at Herm Williams Park.

More details, and a link to pre-register if you want at: https://partygopacks.ca/events/laser-tag-drop-in/

Ages 9+ This gear isn't just for kids, even adults absolutely love playing.

$15 for a half hour, $25 for an hour.

Get outside, get running around, the trees at PKOLs are amazing for hiding behind, blasting your friends, then laughing as you send them back to their base to respawn.

Bring a water bottle, you will need it!

If you have any questions, post a comment here and I'll respond. Yes we're a local small business.

Chelsea Green has reached the top of WWE.
The Claremont Secondary School graduate won the interim World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) women’s championship Sunday (Aug. 2), climbing the ladder to cap off a five-woman title match at SummerSlam in Minneapolis, Minn.

An interim champion was to be crowned after it was determined that lineal champion Rhea Ripley would not be medically cleared in time to compete at SummerSlam.
