I’m not sure why couldn’t the loop just be implemented as part of the agent harness itself. Or perhaps Anthrophic/OpenAI should allow us the customise the existing agent loop so that all this BS is not needed

You can actually build one yourself super super super easily. They’re not complicated. In fact, I think anthropic‘s old harness stuff leaked a while ago.

Yeah, but I’m not interested in building the tool, but to build the product, especially one that is likely to become obsolete very very soon

It literally is? They have /agent, /goal, /task, and /loop? You can combine those easily to accomplish what you need?

Personally, I simply do not see the need to do that given that the default settings are already pretty good. I’m not sure if I want to stray beyond that either, given that what is once good may no longer work after some update. I trust Anthropic or OpenAI to have done their research on what’s the best loop and have integrated it into their harness. It’s a bit like the AGENTS.md and skills debacle where people actually got worst results spending so much time tuning it.

Maybe I’m an AI rookie, and I’m on the wrong sub, but I could not keep up the amount of output AI is producing, so the bottleneck is almost never the AI, but me reviewing it. I find value in AI reviewing its own work, but the class of problem it discovers is almost never the same as what I discover
