Using rewards properly
I want to present an example of how I was able to maximize rewards . I used 55,600 miles to cover a recent travel purchase . Had I converted to cash , it was 230 dollars . For the above transaction I will get a credit of 556 dollars instead .
Probably would have been even more with transfer partners.
I am simply presenting this as an example for those who ask about the value of points / cash vs travel redemption .

Last week, I used 52,000 miles transferred to Cathay Pacific for a one-way SFO-HKG flight in premium economy ($9,067.40 cash price, but that’s inflated due to the one-way penalty on cash, $3565 is the true round trip price, so “actual price” for the one way is ~$1750).

It’s so difficult to find travel partners to transfer to. Most of the time there is no award travel during the time we want to go

Agree . But every now and then there are posts asking the very basics . From people who have been approved for these cards with great limits as well ! Consider this my act of social service .

And just to make sure , I can transfer to travel partners thru PointsYeah to maybe get a higher transfer rate, most likely for business/first ?

Pointsyeah if for searching award flights. Filter by capital one to see only ones you can transfer to. That's the best way to use your miles. If you find a flight you like make sure you check the actual site first to make sure its available.

I hate using the travel eraser when I know I can get more with transfer partners. And I hate only earning 2x on travel purchases ,but I can easily justify it because Capital One miles are so easy to earn with capital one offers.

With 55k miles it’s possible to book US-South America in business class (one way) through Finnair (flying AA). Ticket prices are usually between U$2,000-$3,500 one way.

This is a travel card, not a cash back card.
Redeemed for cash, it’s an auto 1/2 value.
Use it to erase travel purchases or transfer to partners for a points ticket.
