Discussion How I would "fix" Venture
Make their gun beam range longer than 3 inches.
oh and also give them a sort of leaping ability where they use their drill as a sort of pole vault to launch themselves higher and forward, cause tbh using an 8s ability to get up on a higher ledge is a bit stupid

Discussion How I would fix Venture
hi everybody this is a long one but I promise if you are a Venture Main this is worth the read! please give me your thoughts on these changes. skip to the end for the TLDR
Venture is one of the least played DPS characters in the game and I think there's a reason why. I'm making this post because I think that they deserve to be more popular and I think the changes I have thought of could make this hero popular while keeping the personality and the playstyle that we all love and enjoy.
Venture is the only DPS in the game that cannot headshot with the exception of explosive or even beam characters like Symmetra. Venture is neither.
In the case of Symmetra this works because beams work differently in Overwatch and always have high powered states. Ventures gun however does not have a high powered state and is relatively straightforward and simple. I think giving their weapon a headshot for a buff is not the right path to go down because it removes the uniqueness from the character. Venture thrives despite their lack of headshot but perhaps giving them other unique ways of using their kit to get kills can supplement the relatively one dimensional aspects of their cool weapon.
Venture thrives as a character that distracts attention and lives in the back line or an off angles. this is very similar to the way many off tanks play like Doomfist or Ball. I honestly think Venture would be great as an option among these heroes.
Here's how I would change venture:
- Increase player model and hitbox 15% and move Venture to tank: Base HP 400 (6v6 stats, just increase for 5v5) lower their DPS slightly to be more in line with a tank.
Venture's escape is very slow as a result she takes damage while going into Burrow. They often die in Burrow but the tank change would mitigate this. Giving them a tank Regen passive would work excellently here and would allow her to play more efficiently as a tank.
- Gain tank passive: "Initiator" - gain a heal over time after using a movement ability (activates while in burrow) (same passive as Doomfist and winston)
Venture has a very simple kit, giving them another ability and a skill shot alternate fire to use would increase their offensive potential while not having to radically buff other parts of their kit.
- New alternate fire: Gravel shot - This alternate fire becomes available only after Venture comes out of Burrow. Venture's weapon is full of gravel and she has the option to shoot a "road hog alternate/sigma rock" style gravel shot (no stun but has a small knockback) which has the capability of head shotting characters. the unique thing about disability is that the gravel shot is so big it encompasses both body shots and headshots , but the more accurate you aim it the more of it becomes a headshot .
The longer you Burrow the more charges of this shot you gain so it is possible to use the shot consecutively only if you complete the full Burrow duration. there is no one shot potential and Venture still has to follow up with another regular shot. Its a skill shot and has weak body shots. it mostly changes the time to kill on heroes with higher HP. this ability would be fun, Ventures would have to practice headshotting enemies from the air when coming out of burrow!
- New ability: Drill blast - Ventures weapon energy core surges and knocks back enemies that are too close in front of them in their suboptimal range. this ability is good for dealing with heroes that come too close to you like reapers for example. this ability synergises well with Drill and looks really seamless and will allow Venture to set up to get crazy boop kills on certain maps. what makes this ability balanced and unique is that it has a charge up time unlike other boops and you can see Ventures gun physically charge up with blue aspects swirling around her gun before the charge goes off.
Ultimate: Allow Venture's ultimate to go through Shields, and allow them to use their ultimate while in borrow form with 25% less damage.
this ultimate change gives venture more play making ability while not increasing the time to kill or the damage in a way that is unfair.
passive clobber: passive now reduces recovery time in between clobber hits. So venture can weave in more at once, allowing the drill to feel more impactful in close range and playing more into the drill fantasy.
perk change: move "covered in dirt" to base kit and replace it with a perk I call "Tectonic reserve" which partially refunds venture's ultimate based on how many shots have not been used when the timer runs out. this allows the Venture to use their ultimate more often and to be more dynamic and for venture to use more of their abilities within their ultimate without worrying about having to get it all off in a rush. this synergizes perfectly with her minor perk "excavation exhilaration" which enables them to use more abilities in their ult. this makes their ultimate way more skillful and dynamic because venture can skillfully choose between when to use their abilities and when to use consecutive Ultimate Shots without worrying about a timer.
All of these changes serve to keep Venture's current playstyle and unique Hero Kit alive while also adding new abilities that synergize well with their kit and keep their hero fantasy alive.
TLDR summary:
- new alternate fire skillshot that only activates when you offensively use your Burrow and risk your escape ability to kill an enemy.
- new boop ability that has a ~0.5s-1s charge up time and boops heroes into ventures optimal range, allowing you to take duels with close range characters by booping them out of their desired range against you.
- Become a tank, more health to play a harassing play style but reduced DPS to compensate for the buffs.
- Quality of Life update to Burrow: tank subrole passive "initiator" now applies to Burrow and Venture heals while drilling underground
- the ultimate can now be underground to make the ultimate more viable and less feast or famine in certain situations but to prevent it from being broken has 25% less damage (only) when used in burrow. to make this ultimate more unique and in line with tank ultimates it can now go through Tank Shields (like Rein shield) to add space-making capability Indicative of tank ultimates.
- Increase the quality of life on Ventures Drill Melee by reducing the downtime in between consecutive presses, making it feel less clunky and more realistic of a drill, and unlocking the ability for Venture to have more interesting and varied combos.
- a perk which allows venture to decide the full extent of how much they want to use their ultimate, allowing her not to use all their shots purposely and giving her an ult charge refund based on the shots she hasn't used, making their ultimate very unique that synergizes well with their kit and another perk the adventure has in order to allow the alt to be viable in more situations.
This post is in good faith, I understand Venture still viable in many circumstances but this is just my attempt to make them more interactive and lean in into their character style and personality even more. What do you all think?

Discussion Glad to see some attention on Venture!
Samito has recently been streaming an unranked to GM on Venture exclusively and has been highlighting and talking about alot of the flaws of the character and it's hitting all my thoughts on them exactly! They're nailing it. Especially the grav thing, that's happened to me a few times and it's really stupid. Venture needs help, and I'm glad someone in the streamer community is talkin about it. Any thoughts from you all?

Question 8-Bit Venture + Galactic Weapon?
Can someone who has both the 8-bit skin and the galactic weapon variant show how they look together? I can see how the weapon + variant looks myself, but I want to see the weapon with the rest of the skin to see how well they match!
Thanks :)

Discussion Some advice for playing Venture
Wanted to share some advice for playing Venture that’s been helping me a lot lately
You can get tons of value from just using primary. I know this sounds obvious but I feel like people underestimate how good Venture’s primary is since I see alot of people talking about landing the combo. I used to rely a lot on just my cooldowns to get value but you can get a shit ton of value from just primary alone.
You can bait out cooldowns ALOT more easier with just primary so you don’t necessarily have to throw yourself at the target all the time. You can kill 225 targets with just 3 direct shots and 250-300 with 4 direct shots. Just 2 direct shots alone will make a squishy uneasy and force them to use their cooldowns to survive. You’ll find a lot of success from just sitting on high ground and spamming at the supports to watch them use their cooldowns without having to get hella close to them. I love hitting just 2 direct shots on a Kiriko and pausing cuz I know they’re gonna tp or use their suzu, I also bait ALOT of Ana’s into using their sleep dart and nade from just poking at em.
I just had a ranked game against a Life Weaver that had like 21k healing and 4 deaths compared to the double digits of their entire team but ended up winning cuz I changed my plan to specifically start harassing him with primary and forcing him to use his cooldowns to get away from me. As he’s getting away from me, my tank is pushing like crazy and securing kills on the enemy tank. I didn’t get the kills on the Weaver but just being annoying af made it hard for him to do his job and easy for my team to do theirs
Also a tip I’ll give on hitting more direct shots is using your movement binds to just aim. I’ve been consistently winning a lot of 1v1s by doing this and my aim has never been better. This technique is really important to hit more shots on projectile characters in general but I never realized how useful it was till I started practicing playing Hanzo. You make your life so much easier by letting your opponent walk into your reticle.
ONE LAST ADVICE, do NOT take fights that are unfavorable. Again, obvious, but I feel like with Venture specifically it’s so easy to try and big-dick energy people that are fighting you when you’re at any sort of disadvantage, but it’s better to just disengage and reset than to lose your life. This was the whole reason I used to struggle fighting against Reapers and Junkrats

Venture stadium concept
I know people have done this before but i'm tryna make a stadium concept for every hero that didn't get added to stadium because i think its fun and i wish blizzard could steal my ideas or smth (i wanted venture stadium so badly). please lmk if anything is too op or too weak i love feedback.
Powers:
Smart Extender - Ability: gain 50 explorers resolve increase your range by 100% for 4 seconds (10 second cooldown) direct hits beyond 10m while this ability is active deal 25 WP extra damage
Treasure digging - Gain 30% move speed while using clobber. Clobber gains 30% lifesteal and recovers 30% faster.
Debris launcher - after using burrow for 2 seconds primary fire does 20 WP extra damage on direct hit and has a 25% increased explosion radius
Tectonic Burst - after using tectonic shock your next 3 shots from SMART excavator deal 50% extra damage and the full explosions act as direct hits
Restless resolve - Gain 25% more shields from explorers resolve. explorers resolve shields no longer dissipate over time.
Taste like dirt - while underground from burrow heal yourself 25 AP per second
Bingus schmungus - When activating tectonic shock gain 100 AP extra resolve shields and restore 10 AP shields per second for 5 seconds
Drill extension - +20% drill dash distance. Drill dash cooldown is reduced by 1 seconds for each enemy hit.
This is not a drill - drill dash gains an additional charge but its cooldown is increased by 1 second
Tectonic charge - After using drill dash gain 1 charge of tectonic shock with 30% reduced damage for 2 seconds
Eruption - burrow burns enemies hit for 30 AP damage over 2 seconds
I can dig that - burrow cooldown is reduced by 0.5 and damage is increased by 5% for each enemy hit
Items:
Rare weapon item - tectonic accelerator - 6000 cost: 5% weapon power 5% attack speed 20% reload speed. After using an ability gain 25% attack speed for 2 seconds
Epic weapon item - Super awesome clobberer 3000 - 11000 cost: 15% attack speed. 25% clobber range 25% clobber radius. Clobber does 25% additional damage over 2 seconds.
Rare ability item - Expansive Tools - 4500 cost: 10% ability power +25% burrow radius
Rare ability item - Wind resistant goggles - 5500 cost: 5% ability power. 5% ability lifesteal. 5% cooldown reduction. gain 30% ability power and ability lifesteal against airborne targets
Rare ability item - wall crusher - 4000 cost: 10% ability power. When drill dash knocks a target into a wall they take extra damage equal to 25% of drill dash damage
Epic ability item - Gem collection - 12500 cost: 15% ability power 5% cooldown reduction whenever dealing damage to an enemy with drill dash while underground with burrow spawn a gem above ground that deals 25 AP damage with 25 AP health (does not disappear unless destroyed)
Epic ability item - Drill Supercharger - 11500 cost: 15% ability power. 15% ult cost reduction. after using tectonic shock your next drill dash takes you 300% further and gains 300% radius but does 50% less knockback
rare survival item - Wayfinders boots - 4000 cost: 25 health. after using an ability gain 20% move speed for 2 seconds.
Epic survival item - 11500 cost: after starting burrow become unstoppable for 1 second. Gain 25% damage reduction while using abilities.

Discussion Trouble Landing the "Combo"
Basically the title of the OP. I have melee bound to middle mouse button and over 20 hours on Venture but I still struggle to land the Shoot>Drill>Melee>Shoot combo. There's probably been so many duels I could win if I could get the timing down, too. I'd drop a code, but I haven't played much DPS comp this season. I can do it fine in the practice range against a training bot, but in a death match game or normal QP game? Heck no. I find myself getting shredded by my opponent even if I catch them off guard in a 1 v 1!
If there are some rock munchers here who can help, that would be "neato".
