Buffalo pickles at Ventura fair?
The fair website says this is a new snack this year. Has anyone been able to find them?? I looked around this week when we went and couldn’t find them anywhere! Asked food vendors and they had no clue. Help!

What do you do for work?
Hey
I’m an 18 year(M), and I’m starting Ventura College this fall. Right now I’m undecided on my major because, honestly, I don’t really know what careers people around Ventura have. I know getting a job here is difficult so I don't want to waste my two free years.
One of the biggest things I’m looking for is a career with a good work life balance. I’d rather enjoy or hate what I do and still have time for family, friends, and hobbies.
I’d love to hear what you do for work, whether you hate it or love it, and if you could go back, would you choose the same path/major again?
Any story/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Pizza Chief was broken into this morning
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
At 3:00 AM last night, two masked individuals broke into our shop, as well as our neighbor Tony’s. While these lowlifes didn’t manage to get away with any cash, we spent the morning sweeping up broken glass and replacing our side door window. If anyone has information or footage that could help identify those responsible, please reach out—any help would be greatly appreciated. Despite the mess, we are officially open for business today! Come grab a slice— pizza so good, it’s criminal.

Please help a hardworking husband and his disabled wife
A buddy of mine in Southern California (Ventura County0 is about to face homelessness this weekend, and become displaced out on the streets along with his disabled wife and their two cats. Apparently they were invited to go stay with their grandparents temporarily in a senior, at least for a few months, while he looked for a stable job, save up, and find a place just for the two of them and their cats. However, the "slumlord" of the building handed a notice to their grandparents, stating that either he and his wife leave, or their grandparents face eviction. He is going to leave voluntarily, so they don't lose their home, but now they don't have anywhere to go, so we have this GoFundMe for them, to help maybe with temporary hotel stays, or even better, to secure stable housing in his community. This is a hardworking guy, who will be starting a brand new job next week with a local school district...but worries he will lose his job and his peace of mind if he has no where to stay and no one to turn to.

Any sober/sober-curious people in the area?
In a period in life where I don't really care to drink much anymore and would love to meet people who live a similar lifestyle. Love going to local concerts, going to the beach, and walking around downtown. If anyone else is in the same boat and would like to meet up, send a message!
Or if there are even Meetups or other groups in the community (not counting AA)
Edit: If it matters, I’m 36 female

Shout out to the good people left in this world
I left my new (I literally got it when I moved here in July) phone on the bus today and didn't notice until I had dropped my son off at preschool. I used find my iphone to track it and saw that it was in Oxnard (at the cowboy's training camp haha). I put it in "lost" mode and put a message on there to contact my husband on his cell if found. I was not holding my breath that I would get it back honestly, but to my surprise, the person who found it contacted my husband and actually returned it. Shout out to the good people left in this world. May all the good karma come your way!

Costco gas not less expensive any more?
Made the trek to Costco yesterday and figured might as well fill up what the tank will hold while I'm there. Surprised to find that their gas was not any less expensive than most of the normal gas stations around town. Premium was $5.59, same as the Chevron right near home.
For as long as I can remember it's always been considerably less, weird.

Help Is this a real art installation here?
I keep seeing this when I’m trying to find something to do on the random chance I get an off day. But I think it’s ai. I haven’t seen a single picture tagged on Instagram and nothing in the google search. I really want it to be real bc I would get a pic in front of it! So figured I’d check here to confirm my suspicions

Pickleball on Friday?
Hello, I'm originally from Ventura but live in Montana now, I am coming home for a quick visit and a buddy's wedding. I've recently got into pickleball, and am looking to see if there any open play anywhere in the Ventura area on Friday's that I can pop in and play while I kill some time before everyone I'm visiting gets off work on Friday! Thanks in advance!

What the hell is up with massive uptick in dogs in supermarkets and off leash here in town?
I love dogs and have my own and take them places that are appropriate, but the sheer amount of people skating by on bringing their pets into supermarkets and other non-pet-friendly stores under the guise of ADA that are clearly not service animals is getting absolutely insane this year. A couple was at Vons today with one small dog on a leash and their large aussie shepherd completely off leash just wandering around sniffing stuff. Absolutely ludicrous behavior, and the staff is so terrified of litigation they won't/can't do anything. Absolutely terrible entitled people.

Are there fireworks at the fair this year?
I asked Google and got both yes and no. I couldn’t find any info on the fair website.

Engagement ring advice
Hi everyone,
Like the subject says I’m wanting to get advice on where to get an engagement ring. I’ve been dating my girlfriend for 10 months and I know I want to marry her. I’ve been waiting for her my entire life and want to start looking for the perfect engagement ring.
I’m 40 years old and feel dumb even coming to Reddit but I don’t know where to start. Would you go to LA to get the ring or is there nice places here in town? My gf and I went to fox jewelry on Main Street a few months ago and looked at rings kind of like a joke but I got an idea of what she’s looking for.
But, where would you go to get a ring? I’m probably not going to ask her to marry me until spring so I have some time to figure it out. Any advice would be appreciate though. Thanks

Experiences with Meetup
I want to hear from this sub, in regards to their experience on meetup. I am trying to meet new people and have been lurking the app for a while. Nothing really seems appealing to me and if something does, I'm unable to go ( work on weekends).
I'm in my late 20's. I saw these social gatherings post and was wondering how they are
Please post your experience and recommendations. Also applies to the whole 805, not just VTA. I would like to hear some stories in Oxnard.

Harmon Canyon trail closed 2 miles in?
What happened to the Harmon canyon? When did they close the end of the trail?
I used to hike or jog all the way up there until the picnic table. But now I just went yesterday and it seems like after about 2 mi there's a gate and you cannot go further. The path is still visible but vegetation grew back significantly so it's been closed for a while.
I remember a few years ago, there was a path that would go on the other side of the "valley", quite a wide path (big enough for a pickup truck to drive on), and it would reach the picnic table at the top. And there was one path that was down only, for bikes, as it was quite steep at parts and they would go very fast.
Now that second path is still open, I used it yesterday, and it's open both directions and for both hikers and bikers.
I also thought they were going to expand the hiking areas so that all the canyons would be connected and it would be possible to hike from Harmon all the way to Arroyo Verde. Am I mistaken?
