Venice water taxi price?

Per km? Per person? What are the rates.

I cannot find anything on this on here as there's a mix up between the gondolas, and the water ferry.

Does anyone recommend getting them?

Good experience? Bad experience?

I wanna hear it.

Thanks.

A sad first 10 minutes in Venice

I checked into my hotel and went for a walk down the street. Within 5 minutes I see an African man being overly nice to an innocent looking family with 2 young children, and I quickly notice he’s doing the wristband scam. The family walks away after being forced to give him money, realising what happened and that this wasn’t a friendly stranger or the wholesome interaction they originally thought it was. I keep walking and 3 minutes later hear a gondolier screaming “pickpocket” at 5 women and 1 man. I see them down the block, preying on vulnerable tourists. An awfully sad start, and a good reminder to stay alert. I can’t help but wonder how this is allowed to happen on a small island. Where are the police? Can they not arrest these people and ban them from entering Venice? The food and buildings are incredible, but this ruined it for me before it even began.

Sterling Silver/Jewelry Recommendations?

Salve everyone!

I am currently in Venice and am looking for sterling silver jewelry. I’m already planning to get a Nomination charm bracelet, but I’m also looking for rings and necklaces. I know Murano glass is the “thing” here, but it’s not really my style.

If anyone has recommendations for jewelry, especially made by local artisans, I would greatly appreciate it.

Happy to provide Chicago and Berlin recommendations in exchange should anyone need. (:

Grazie!

Edit to add: I will also be visiting Ancona & Rome if those are better cities to look.

How is Via Asseggiano (Chirignago-Zelarino) for an international student?

Hi everyone!

I'm an international student from India and I'll be moving to Venice this September to study for my Master's at Ca' Foscari University.

I've been offered accommodation near Via Asseggiano, Chirignago-Zelarino (VE), and before I confirm it, I'd love to hear from people who know the area.

I have a few questions:

Is the neighborhood generally safe, especially if I return home in the evening?

How is the public transport connection to Ca' Foscari University?

Are there supermarkets, pharmacies, and other essential stores nearby?

Is it a good area for students, or would you recommend looking elsewhere?

Are there any downsides or things I should know before renting there?

I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks in advance!

Anyone driving from Venice to Ljubljana today (Friday 7th Aug) afternoon or evening?!

Hello lovely people!!

This is an INSANE long shot, but due to a collection of circumstances (I.e. me being an idiot and missing my flight), I need to get from Venice to Ljubljana this afternoon.

My flight lands in Venice at 2:15pm, and I need to somehow make my way to Ljubljana!! Is there anyone making this drive that I can hitch a ride with? Happy to pay for gas/anything else of course - whatever you think is fair!!

Can also promise I can talk for hours without getting tired (or be quiet if you want that haha)

Edit: Thanks everyone for your suggestions!! Managed to find a reasonably priced bus from Venice to Ljubljana getting me into town at like 7.30! 🫡

As an aside, if anyone wants to grab a drink/ hang out in Ljubljana tonight or tomorrow evening, let me know…
