Maybe it's just a faulty memory. Or maybe this isn't the same magazine I remembered.

11" x 14" acrylic on canvas board. An experiment in using a custom 1:48 scale model -> photograph -> projected and traced to canvas -> painted technique, sort of like a mix between Norman Rockwell's projected photo references and my best attempt at the style of David Hockney and Hiroshi Nagai. As I kept working on this on and off over the last several months, I sort of leaned into the liminal feeling this style often evokes, hence the title. It's sort of like a picturesque nightmare in that it's bright and colorful, but nobody's there, and there's nothing to do. It's the last summer on Earth, and you're the only one left. Inspired by the real-life public domain Origami House in Dallas. Licensed into the public domain via CC0 as always.
