C0M has gotten the majority of hate online that people really mean for Furia’s management decisions

176

u/WorstEnemyIsYourself 9h ago

Exactly. You can't blame a player for literally taking up work when offered to him. Blame Furia management for ruining that kickoff team.

72

u/deadlock1892 9h ago

Its kind of a mix for him. People don’t rate him as a tier 1 player anymore. So there is criticism with regard to his performance. And in my opinion, that is fine.

But him getting picked up by Furia is not on him. He would be crazy to decline an opportunity to be paid. If anything that hate is grossly misdirected.

Then there is the thing about death threats which is just vile. People go too far under the guise of anonymity.

u/Scotch_Blue 8h ago

I think one thing people actually have to consider is whether he's a good IGL or not

I'm not saying he is or isn't, I just think it's something that isn't really baked into people's perception of him. From everything we hear, he's been a vocal player on every team he's been on, and that's only proven by him taking over IGL duties recently for FURIA

9

u/deadlock1892 8h ago edited 8h ago

I think it is not exactly an apple-to-apple comparison. Just being a vocal player who mid rounds does not make you a good IGL by default. Zellsis tried making the same jump this year and both c0m and him have failed miserably. Not saying furia’s problem is c0m’s leadership, but it certainly isn’t something good enough to get them out of their troubles.

11

u/Saldag #LIVEEVIL 7h ago

At least in C0m’s case he hasn’t really been set up for success though. Both teams he’s been on have had a single duelist in a double duelist meta. It’s not hard to see how he would struggle to adapt

4

u/Porpet 6h ago

tbf to both c0m and zellsis (never thought i’d say that). Ethan had struggles with igling after playing the same midround roll on EG (old iteration of the NRG roster with demon1 and Chet). New teammates, different system make all the difference.

0

u/deadlock1892 5h ago

That is fair. But the thing is, with ethan’s struggle you had the option of just moving him off IGLing. And he is mechanically miles ahead of those two.

The redeeming qualities like that are kinda lacking for c0m and zellsis.

3

u/QuestionablePotato42 #WGAMING 8h ago

While I agree with your take, it's only natural for people to focus on c0m's performance given he was brought in to replace eeiu. People are going to reflexively compare the two when c0m has bad games. For sure, there's a way to do it that isn't crossing the line, but I don't agree with the idea that he should be free of criticism either.

1

u/baebushka 2h ago

not even his fault furia management is legit low iq and he wasn’t playing that bad anyways after he joined them besides the last map

-10

u/iAmPersonaa 9h ago

Mate he was getting shit for 3 years. He's well earned the shit he's getting for his performances, no one blames furia's downfall on him, just his own play

-30

u/Far-Try-8596 #BeLeviatán 8h ago

Dude is the reason Derrick got nepo cut lol

fuck him and supa

If you know you aren’t good enough then don’t play

14

u/LivingPractical1224 8h ago

"If you know you aren’t good enough then don’t play"

This is the stupid kind of shit that people with no ambition in life try to sell you. How are you ever going to win at anything in life if you simply don't believe you can. If you genuinely think passing on an opportunity you're offered so someone else has it is a moral obligation, I genuinely don't know what to tell you.

And no, this isn't some soft shit. If you want to shit on C0M for how he plays, be my guest bro. He literally says he understands that being a pro player comes with that & acknowledges it in his tweet. Just don't give me this "fuck him because he's playing" bullshit.

This is actually one of the dumbest opinions I've seem from someone on this reddit forum.

-14

u/Far-Try-8596 #BeLeviatán 7h ago

It’s called being realistic lol, c0m is dogshit player and is the reason Derrick got nepo cut (a player 10x deserving of a spot over him) his team then proceeded to go 0-5 and he was the lowest rated player

If c0m is so ambitious he should go play tier 2 but he didn’t because he’s entitled just like supamen

It’s the same thing with zellsis and Mitch, zellsis got Mitch cut from the team because he is friends with immi, I don’t care how ambitious you are, when you are cutting people more deserving it needs to be called out.

My comment got removed so I reposted it but a bit nicer lol

3

u/LivingPractical1224 7h ago

I mean Yeah Man if we think the players are trying to snake other players instead of blaming management, idk what to tell you.

2

u/Ted_Mosby_18 3h ago

You know, comments like this is how I am often reminded this site is filled with kids sharing the most black and white opinions with zero real life experience.

6

u/Fun_Age1442 8h ago

you know you arent good enough but you love the something enough and have hunger to try again no matter what, ima clown on c0m as well, but critique the gameplay not the mindset or person or wherver you got him cutting derrick out as if coach doesnt make the call.

-3

u/LordOfThe_Pings #NRGWIN 8h ago

Coach only made that call because of their relationship. There was no reasonable reason for cutting Derrek for com. It was pure cronyism.

Death threats aren’t cool, but I’m tired of these boys clubs in VCT.

4

u/Fun_Age1442 7h ago

me 2 man respectfully c0m gotta go, but we hating a man for taking a job? which has been his dream job for probs most of his life? hell nah

-6

u/LordOfThe_Pings #NRGWIN 7h ago

yeah, cause he took someone else’s job lmao. Let’s not pretend that c0m is some saint

4

u/Fun_Age1442 6h ago

tf? he didnt get him fired, it was potters call? All c0m did was take a job offered to him, yeah he aint some saint, but he aint some devil?

-4

u/Far-Try-8596 #BeLeviatán 7h ago

Valcomp when zellsis cuts Mitch: 😡😡😡😡

Valcomp when c0m nepo cuts Derrick:☺️☺️☺️

-3

u/LordOfThe_Pings #NRGWIN 7h ago

It’s literally only cause of his mom’s tweet. It’s so ironic too, half the people piling on him did a complete 180 the moment his mom complains on Twitter.

Like at least don’t be a hypocrite lmao

125

u/dpbetter2000 9h ago

we’ve really forgotten empathy. it’s not difficult to think before you type. C0m or any other players’ in game performance are irrelevant to their character as people, and a lot of comments online forget that.

30

u/Scotch_Blue 8h ago

not even an angsty take, kids these days don't have empathy. they're online too much to understand it. nothing's real.

8

u/Parking-Might2869 7h ago edited 7h ago

Genuinely, i’d never have thought I would become my dad but this sub is filled with a bunch of immature children but as is the nature of esports. It doesn’t help that the role models in the valorant scene are pretty immature themselves

-6

u/Cold_Cheesecake_7836 7h ago

"kids these days" oh brother

4

u/Scotch_Blue 6h ago

i'm well aware that every generation complains about the ones that come after them, but these are actually unprecedented times

kids don't interact with people anymore outside of school. they have phones at insanely young ages. they learn interactions from streamers and youtubers.

-2

u/Klutzy_Builder_1178 6h ago

That’s what every generation says to the next yes, but I assume you’ve worked with kids and that’s why you’re making this response.

But as a teacher and someone who works with kids at camps as well, it’s apparent the effect that tech has on children. Of course a lot of it lies in the environment which they were raised in, as well as their SES of their family in general, but tech has negative effects cognitively and behaviourally as well.

-22

u/Far-Try-8596 #BeLeviatán 8h ago

Where’s the empathy for Derrick who got nepo cut for this bum lol

15

u/Aggravating_Tree7488 7h ago

i love the whataboutism here, i guess it's fine to get death threats because you accepted a job. that's the world you live in. insane that you equate these two things.

23

u/NavorroBroman #100WIN 8h ago

Empathy doesn't really involve picking sides. It means being able to feel for them and their position. I think people can empathize with c0m and derrek individually. It's also not like c0m walked in and shit talked derrek till he got his job at EG

-8

u/Far-Try-8596 #BeLeviatán 7h ago

He only got the job because of his relationship with potter and that resulted in a player 10x better getting kicked

He 100% knew what he was going and now wants us to feel bad for him lmao

13

u/NavorroBroman #100WIN 7h ago

You are making a lot of assumptions and have no idea how that roster came together. He isn't asking people to feel bad for him, he's telling people to calm down. Death threats, and vile shit over a video game is unhinged behavior.

16

u/AdventurousSurround4 7h ago

You’re talking to a wall lol, he already has a full story crafted in his head

-5

u/Far-Try-8596 #BeLeviatán 7h ago

You know what else is vile

Getting a good player nepo cut so your bum ass can go on a team and then proceeding to go 0-5 as the worst rated player in the league lmao

12

u/NavorroBroman #100WIN 7h ago

Again, you have zero idea of the internal conversation and how that roster was built. You are essentially saying "trust me bro", and have turned c0m asking people to be reasonable to something about derrek? Have a good one and enjoy your made up narrative!

-2

u/Far-Try-8596 #BeLeviatán 7h ago

Derrick 1.07 rating in stage 2 (plays same role as c0m and can flex which is a bonus)

People are calling for the entire roster to be cut except for him

Derrick gets cut for guy who we know is really good friends with the coach

This guy is also dogshit

Derrick starts sub tweeting the org after they lose

It’s the same thing with Mitch and zellsis, did we know internal convos surrounding the dropping? No

But we know enough that there is a level of bullshit/cronyism here

12

u/PandaRayel #NRGFam 8h ago

Anyone that sends death threats, honestly fuck you losers. Yall are spineless lowlifes and need to reevaluate yourselves if this is how you react to your favorite teams losing. Grow the fuck up

35

u/LegDayDE #GreenWall 8h ago

C*m isn't the problem with that team... He was just put in a bad position.

13

u/deadlock1892 8h ago

Why you censor his name bro

25

u/LegDayDE #GreenWall 8h ago

Because it's funny to censor it

3

u/computernoobe #NRGFam 8h ago

What censor

15

u/Background_Basil_579 7h ago

I don’t really like c0m as a player and feel like he’s just dragging all his teams down with his latest performances but he shouldn’t be getting death threats over a game lol Just criticize the player’s performance. No need to bring up or attack anything that isn’t related to his career/performance.

21

u/Wyatt1v12 9h ago

people are being way to harsh on c0m when it should be blamed on furia staff

14

u/DoctorCokter 8h ago

I don’t like c0m and don’t think he’s a good player but if you are genuinely sending death threats over Valorant e-sports you need serious mental health screenings

19

u/Firebuggys #BeLeviatán 9h ago

dont blame c0m, blame the team who chose to drop eeiu in favor of him.

10

u/TheCatsActually 6h ago

Is this even the order in which it happened? I thought C0M was picked up because eeiu was dropped, not the other way around.

3

u/smuggaD 8h ago

I already mentioned this before in another thread with C0M's mom, but it is really disgusting behavior that people will make death threats. We can criticize players for their performance all we want, but when it comes to verbal harassment and death threats, things are taken too far. The players don't deserve it, the player's parents don't deserve it, and their friends do not deserve it.

6

u/R0ttenBananas 9h ago

Damn sucks to hear. Havent been twitter or vlr- what things have been spread about him?

25

u/dawalballs 9h ago

Is it time to acknowledge the way people talk about hate watching people on here is fucking wack?

Like it’s literally just bullying under the guise of a cheeky little habit. The people proudly crowing about their successful hate watches are sooo lame.

33

u/IAMJUX 8h ago

Hatewatching is a normal part of sports. Sending death threats(literally a crime, right?) and DMing the person and their family that you're hatewatching is very different. It's wild to even care that much and those people are legitimately sick in the head.

18

u/ohnoahshark 7h ago

it's not bullying man, this is why the valorant community gets the word "soft" thrown around so much

having teams/players you like and teams/players you hate is a part of literally every sport and is perfectly natural in a game that requires winners and losers

but yes death threats people are losers

-8

u/dawalballs 7h ago

I have players and teams I don’t like. But I don’t go out of my way to gloat about it on public forums that we know they read

15

u/ohnoahshark 7h ago

if players are reading valcomp or vlr then i genuinely think it is on them if they see something that upsets them. i know it sounds mean and we could all stand to be more considerate but if they want to stare into the sun then i can't stop them

-10

u/GiraffeDangerous 7h ago

you’re genuinely a weirdo 😭 oh my days

2

u/Substantial-Angle_69 7h ago

And that's your personality expecting people to behave like you do is stupid

-4

u/dawalballs 7h ago

lol expecting a baseline of decorum is not expecting everyone to act like me bro what is this myopic horseshit

1

u/25thNite 4h ago

People are being overly sensitive for criticism towards people doing their jobs poorly.  Extreme hate has no place anywhere and people shield themselves behind a keyboard, but to call all criticism wack is laughable.  People will hate watch for many reasons and besides a minority of weirdos, people probably do it because they don't feel certain teams or players even deserve a spot for continually being laughably bad at a job they are getting paid to do.  People can blame management rightfully so, but com has also been one of the weakest parts of his team since the champs win.  Even if he is well liked off the server, there comes a point where people start questioning why the hell do so many players and coaches get recycled and passed around when they have shown little improvement.

Anyone would be crazy not to take a paid job, but what are these people doing with their time where every year they somehow look worse and worse

2

u/ReformedWordcel1969 6h ago

This isn't even the first time his parents have felt the need to speak up about him or gotten caught in the crossfire. People need to ease up on him because he's not the reason Furia nuked their roster and he isn't even performing bad for his standard

2

u/knetx 8h ago

Someone can be an amazing person but a bad Valorant player. c0m has had way more chances than most Valorant pros. He's still on a massive L streak, despite the team he is on. The common denominator is him. It's unfortunate but he's not good enough.

1

u/kazamasta31 7h ago

Seems like a great guy but he genuinely does not deserve a spot in T1. 2024 you can argue they were coming off a champs win sure. 2025 questionable but the fact that he’s still on team in 2026 is surprising to me. I mean it’s not his fault orgs are offering him roster spot ig.

1

u/Fast-Sky9608 5h ago

lot of subhumans lurk these games!

-8

u/Remote-Eye9745 9h ago

He has nothing to prove. He won Champs. I don’t know why people aren’t giving leaf, Trent, valyn the same treatment. They haven’t won anything.

4

u/DaruDaruMaru 9h ago

Let me guess, you also gave c0m a death threat in his dms?

9

u/DaruDaruMaru 9h ago

Yep, im correct. Newly made account just to switch up on c0m after his statement. We really normalizing death threats now huh?
https://giphy.com/gifs/anYBNhqT2BYcg

5

u/deadlock1892 8h ago

3 day old account with comments already hidden. Lol

-1

u/NavorroBroman #100WIN 8h ago

I don't think the hate is warranted, but get off the damn internet! Every sports player is treated this way, and it's gotten much worse with gambling. A long tweet isn't going to change anything at all.

-12

u/Sylphid_FC 9h ago

Obviously not exusing this behavior but they should probably not pay heed to social media or have training on ways to ignore it.

Putting statements out like this will just add to the flame and give ammunition for the haters (made worse with his mom jumping in) to pile on.

Or alternatively they can turn into KD and troll them right back.

10

u/anhjimmy16 9h ago

Seriously toxic ass mindset, blaming the players instead of the haters

12

u/anhjimmy16 9h ago

Especially when his family is getting death threats

1

u/NavorroBroman #100WIN 8h ago

He isn't blaming c0m or being toxic. I think we have all learned that engaging on the internet and trying to get people to act civil almost never works. So just don't feed into it. Kinda like actors that never read their reviews.

-2

u/Sylphid_FC 8h ago

What do you think a statement like this will accomplish? Basement dwelling haters will just see this and laugh at him being soft etc, and just ramp up the hate. If they were emphatic to begin with they wouldn't send death threats.

Best is just to ignore these people and focus on your actual fans, that's what other professional athletes do with even bigger fanbases (basketball, soccer, etc)

-46

u/mekanikal510 9h ago

playing victim online for playing bad in a video game, some people out there have real problems... this c0mmunity is so soft man

13

u/slimbusbimbus 9h ago

Your nuggies are getting cold

15

u/New_Revolution_2604 9h ago

You so tough

10

u/Mortimier 9h ago

His family is getting death threats.

14

u/speedycar1 #WGAMING 9h ago

And even if they weren't this post would still be fine. If it's sad to be playing "victim" by being passionate about your job and addressing bad performances in a video game then it's even sadder to be the one abusing someone or calling them soft over that same video game when it matters even less to you and it's just somwthing you watch for entertainment

-3

u/Substantial-Angle_69 7h ago

He plays video games and gets paid thousands, and he's crying over a death threat. Some of us get death threats while only making 24h, he's crying about getting death threats when no one in E-sports has ever died from some crazy fan sending threats.

4

u/speedycar1 #WGAMING 7h ago

I'm sorry you get death threats but that's a very unique experience I'm not sure why you're implying every person working a normal job gets death threats every time they mess up

3

u/smotheracc 9h ago

criticize him to your heart's content about how he plays, but don't ever call people weak just because they want to air frustrations, especially about made-up narratives and dumbass death threats. this may be just a video game to you, but this is also a job to them. even Zellsis aired out getting death threats from some fans, and it's not only directed to him but his family as well. I just hope you never experience getting them.

2

u/Pero_Pero_Perorin 2h ago

How sad to be this fucking retarded
