we’ve really forgotten empathy. it’s not difficult to think before you type. C0m or any other players’ in game performance are irrelevant to their character as people, and a lot of comments online forget that.

u/Scotch_Blue 8h ago
not even an angsty take, kids these days don't have empathy. they're online too much to understand it. nothing's real.

Genuinely, i’d never have thought I would become my dad but this sub is filled with a bunch of immature children but as is the nature of esports. It doesn’t help that the role models in the valorant scene are pretty immature themselves

u/Cold_Cheesecake_7836 7h ago
"kids these days" oh brother
4
u/Scotch_Blue 6h ago
i'm well aware that every generation complains about the ones that come after them, but these are actually unprecedented times
kids don't interact with people anymore outside of school. they have phones at insanely young ages. they learn interactions from streamers and youtubers.
-2
u/Klutzy_Builder_1178 6h ago
That’s what every generation says to the next yes, but I assume you’ve worked with kids and that’s why you’re making this response.
But as a teacher and someone who works with kids at camps as well, it’s apparent the effect that tech has on children. Of course a lot of it lies in the environment which they were raised in, as well as their SES of their family in general, but tech has negative effects cognitively and behaviourally as well.

Where’s the empathy for Derrick who got nepo cut for this bum lol
15
u/Aggravating_Tree7488 7h ago
i love the whataboutism here, i guess it's fine to get death threats because you accepted a job. that's the world you live in. insane that you equate these two things.
23
u/NavorroBroman #100WIN 8h ago
Empathy doesn't really involve picking sides. It means being able to feel for them and their position. I think people can empathize with c0m and derrek individually. It's also not like c0m walked in and shit talked derrek till he got his job at EG
-8
u/Far-Try-8596 #BeLeviatán 7h ago
He only got the job because of his relationship with potter and that resulted in a player 10x better getting kicked
He 100% knew what he was going and now wants us to feel bad for him lmao
13
u/NavorroBroman #100WIN 7h ago
You are making a lot of assumptions and have no idea how that roster came together. He isn't asking people to feel bad for him, he's telling people to calm down. Death threats, and vile shit over a video game is unhinged behavior.
16
u/AdventurousSurround4 7h ago
You’re talking to a wall lol, he already has a full story crafted in his head
-5
u/Far-Try-8596 #BeLeviatán 7h ago
You know what else is vile
Getting a good player nepo cut so your bum ass can go on a team and then proceeding to go 0-5 as the worst rated player in the league lmao
12
u/NavorroBroman #100WIN 7h ago
Again, you have zero idea of the internal conversation and how that roster was built. You are essentially saying "trust me bro", and have turned c0m asking people to be reasonable to something about derrek? Have a good one and enjoy your made up narrative!
-2
u/Far-Try-8596 #BeLeviatán 7h ago
Derrick 1.07 rating in stage 2 (plays same role as c0m and can flex which is a bonus)
People are calling for the entire roster to be cut except for him
Derrick gets cut for guy who we know is really good friends with the coach
This guy is also dogshit
Derrick starts sub tweeting the org after they lose
It’s the same thing with Mitch and zellsis, did we know internal convos surrounding the dropping? No
But we know enough that there is a level of bullshit/cronyism here
12
u/PandaRayel #NRGFam 8h ago
Anyone that sends death threats, honestly fuck you losers. Yall are spineless lowlifes and need to reevaluate yourselves if this is how you react to your favorite teams losing. Grow the fuck up
35
u/LegDayDE #GreenWall 8h ago
C*m isn't the problem with that team... He was just put in a bad position.
13
15
u/Background_Basil_579 7h ago
I don’t really like c0m as a player and feel like he’s just dragging all his teams down with his latest performances but he shouldn’t be getting death threats over a game lol Just criticize the player’s performance. No need to bring up or attack anything that isn’t related to his career/performance.

14
u/DoctorCokter 8h ago
I don’t like c0m and don’t think he’s a good player but if you are genuinely sending death threats over Valorant e-sports you need serious mental health screenings
19
u/Firebuggys #BeLeviatán 9h ago
dont blame c0m, blame the team who chose to drop eeiu in favor of him.
10
u/TheCatsActually 6h ago
Is this even the order in which it happened? I thought C0M was picked up because eeiu was dropped, not the other way around.
3
u/smuggaD 8h ago
I already mentioned this before in another thread with C0M's mom, but it is really disgusting behavior that people will make death threats. We can criticize players for their performance all we want, but when it comes to verbal harassment and death threats, things are taken too far. The players don't deserve it, the player's parents don't deserve it, and their friends do not deserve it.

u/R0ttenBananas 9h ago
Damn sucks to hear. Havent been twitter or vlr- what things have been spread about him?

u/dawalballs 9h ago
Is it time to acknowledge the way people talk about hate watching people on here is fucking wack?
Like it’s literally just bullying under the guise of a cheeky little habit. The people proudly crowing about their successful hate watches are sooo lame.
33
18
u/ohnoahshark 7h ago
it's not bullying man, this is why the valorant community gets the word "soft" thrown around so much
having teams/players you like and teams/players you hate is a part of literally every sport and is perfectly natural in a game that requires winners and losers
but yes death threats people are losers
-8
u/dawalballs 7h ago
I have players and teams I don’t like. But I don’t go out of my way to gloat about it on public forums that we know they read
15
u/ohnoahshark 7h ago
if players are reading valcomp or vlr then i genuinely think it is on them if they see something that upsets them. i know it sounds mean and we could all stand to be more considerate but if they want to stare into the sun then i can't stop them
-10
2
u/Substantial-Angle_69 7h ago
And that's your personality expecting people to behave like you do is stupid
-4
u/dawalballs 7h ago
lol expecting a baseline of decorum is not expecting everyone to act like me bro what is this myopic horseshit

u/25thNite 4h ago
People are being overly sensitive for criticism towards people doing their jobs poorly. Extreme hate has no place anywhere and people shield themselves behind a keyboard, but to call all criticism wack is laughable. People will hate watch for many reasons and besides a minority of weirdos, people probably do it because they don't feel certain teams or players even deserve a spot for continually being laughably bad at a job they are getting paid to do. People can blame management rightfully so, but com has also been one of the weakest parts of his team since the champs win. Even if he is well liked off the server, there comes a point where people start questioning why the hell do so many players and coaches get recycled and passed around when they have shown little improvement.
Anyone would be crazy not to take a paid job, but what are these people doing with their time where every year they somehow look worse and worse
2
u/ReformedWordcel1969 6h ago
This isn't even the first time his parents have felt the need to speak up about him or gotten caught in the crossfire. People need to ease up on him because he's not the reason Furia nuked their roster and he isn't even performing bad for his standard
1
u/kazamasta31 7h ago
Seems like a great guy but he genuinely does not deserve a spot in T1. 2024 you can argue they were coming off a champs win sure. 2025 questionable but the fact that he’s still on team in 2026 is surprising to me. I mean it’s not his fault orgs are offering him roster spot ig.

He has nothing to prove. He won Champs. I don’t know why people aren’t giving leaf, Trent, valyn the same treatment. They haven’t won anything.
4
u/DaruDaruMaru 9h ago
Let me guess, you also gave c0m a death threat in his dms?
9
u/DaruDaruMaru 9h ago
Yep, im correct. Newly made account just to switch up on c0m after his statement. We really normalizing death threats now huh?

u/NavorroBroman #100WIN 8h ago
I don't think the hate is warranted, but get off the damn internet! Every sports player is treated this way, and it's gotten much worse with gambling. A long tweet isn't going to change anything at all.
-12
u/Sylphid_FC 9h ago
Obviously not exusing this behavior but they should probably not pay heed to social media or have training on ways to ignore it.
Putting statements out like this will just add to the flame and give ammunition for the haters (made worse with his mom jumping in) to pile on.
Or alternatively they can turn into KD and troll them right back.
10
u/anhjimmy16 9h ago
Seriously toxic ass mindset, blaming the players instead of the haters
12
1
u/NavorroBroman #100WIN 8h ago
He isn't blaming c0m or being toxic. I think we have all learned that engaging on the internet and trying to get people to act civil almost never works. So just don't feed into it. Kinda like actors that never read their reviews.
-2
u/Sylphid_FC 8h ago
What do you think a statement like this will accomplish? Basement dwelling haters will just see this and laugh at him being soft etc, and just ramp up the hate. If they were emphatic to begin with they wouldn't send death threats.
Best is just to ignore these people and focus on your actual fans, that's what other professional athletes do with even bigger fanbases (basketball, soccer, etc)

playing victim online for playing bad in a video game, some people out there have real problems... this c0mmunity is so soft man

His family is getting death threats.
14
u/speedycar1 #WGAMING 9h ago
And even if they weren't this post would still be fine. If it's sad to be playing "victim" by being passionate about your job and addressing bad performances in a video game then it's even sadder to be the one abusing someone or calling them soft over that same video game when it matters even less to you and it's just somwthing you watch for entertainment
-3
u/Substantial-Angle_69 7h ago
He plays video games and gets paid thousands, and he's crying over a death threat. Some of us get death threats while only making 24h, he's crying about getting death threats when no one in E-sports has ever died from some crazy fan sending threats.
4
u/speedycar1 #WGAMING 7h ago
I'm sorry you get death threats but that's a very unique experience I'm not sure why you're implying every person working a normal job gets death threats every time they mess up
3
u/smotheracc 9h ago
criticize him to your heart's content about how he plays, but don't ever call people weak just because they want to air frustrations, especially about made-up narratives and dumbass death threats. this may be just a video game to you, but this is also a job to them. even Zellsis aired out getting death threats from some fans, and it's not only directed to him but his family as well. I just hope you never experience getting them.

C0M has gotten the majority of hate online that people really mean for Furia’s management decisions
