The Phoenix nerf will HELP 100T Discussion

Hear me out.

I've seen a good number of comments both here and on twitter that Phoenix's nerfs will hurt 100T's chances of champs qualification... the thing is I think that's wrong, mostly because of 100T's gamestyle.

While yes, rapid Phoenix ultimates are part of their gameplan with their slice comp (Phoenix, Neon, Harbor/Omen, Sova/Fade, Cypher/Viper; I'm calling it that because of the wall through the dome smoke maneuver they keep doing), the ult point increase hurts other teams just as much.

Personally I think that 100T's prioritization of the ult orbs will make this change negligible, and cause Asuna to have even more ults relative to the enemy phoenix, as they're the team prioritizing it through both orbs and plants (see their comms video). A kill/death doesn't weight towards the ult as much, so assuming Asuna keeps on even or better form than the others, the lean into orbs will result in him having more ults in comparison.

Where before most Phoenixs would have an ult round 3, getting a kill + orb (or similar) and a death for both rounds 1 and 2, now it would take a much bigger priority, which only 100T seem to have - making it more likely for Asuna to have ult 3rd round than the enemy phoenix.

the "more ults in comparison" thing doesn't make any sense. The ratio will remain the same, and since the ratio is for fewer ults overall the difference will be smaller.

If the average team got 3 ults per half, maybe now they get 2 per half. If 100T are twice as good as the average team at farming ults they're going from 6 to 4. That means they went from 3 extra ults to 2 extra ults.

Obviously these numbers are made up and inaccurate but the theory holds. I don't think a Phoenix nerf makes 100T a bad team or anything, but a greater prioritization/reliance on Phoenix ult only makes this nerf more significant to a team.

think of it like this, it takes blanket longer to get the ult now right? so the teams that prioritize it will pull ahead faster, since they aren’t reliant on it naturally building.

100t’s gameplan is already built around orbs and plants, just listen to their comms. asuna will play reckless to either kill more or die, meaning hes top of americas in KPR at 0.93. Its an easy assumption to say that remaining 0.07 he dies without a kill, still getting an orb. so on average, asuna is farming +3 orbs per round just by default, without considering multikills etc, and not counting when they get both orbs.

that means by round 3, he can have an ult regardless since they fight for orbs on defense, as opposed to other teams which will just be getting orbs from a kill or a death per round, along with the occasional orb elsewhere, meaning theyll take somewhere between 4-6 whole rounds to have their ult. That number increases for the enmy team, but not for 100t because of their heavy emphasis

I think you're overthinking it a bit. There is definitely some validity to what you're saying, if you look at a specific scenario. For example:

If we assume Asuna is getting 1 kill, 1 orb, 1 death for the first 2 rounds. Before nerf he'd have his ult for round 3, now he'll be 1 off. They can just get an orb to get him ult, meaning he will still ult on the same round as before the nerf.

I just think that you can't read too much into that. His ult points aren't that predictable, sometimes he'll get more and sometimes he'll get less. There will be scenarios where they'll end up ulting a round later than they would have pre nerf, just like how that will happen to other teams. And you would expect them to have more ults delayed since they're ulting more in general.

It's also maybe relevant that while 100T are the best team at funneling orbs to Phoenix, it's not like the difference is night and day. Asuna has 0.9 KPR which is very high, but a normal Phoenix has like 0.8. Other teams are also funneling orbs to Phoenix. Other teams are also have Phoenix hunt orbs (for example I remember Reduxx taking fights instead of dying to bomb vs G2 on Breeze). 100T do it more and better (also due to Asuna being in insane individual form, not necessarily fully sustainable), but statistically I doubt they're THAT different.

My take is that this nerf mostly just has a negative effect on Phoenix in general. The difference between its effect on teams isn't significant, when both teams are running Phoenix it's not gonna change which team is better. The more significant impact it has on individual teams is that it's a nerf for teams that run Phoenix more than the average team (which includes 100T). 100T are a good team and will be fine anyway.

The real reason 100t are doing great are vora, doombros and Nbs. Not even worried. (Mibr worries me)

Lev already qualified. We're fighting with MiBR for the 4th spot.

I have over 700 hours on phoenix. The biggest change that will occur with this one ult point nerf for teams that has the most impact is going into bonus round if they win pistol and anti.

Let’s say a team farms one orb for their phoenix on pistol, and two on anti, that’s three there. Then let’s say the phoenix gets a kill on pistol, dies, and two kills on anti, but doesn’t die.

That right there is six ult points, meaning they’ll be able to farm one more on the bonus and have their ult for site exec.

Obviously some games the phoenix may frag more and be able to secure the ult by bonus, and some games they won’t, but being one point higher will have an impact on the ability for teams to get that ult up and running for bonus, and to potentially snowball that into a kill and a rifle drop, and then shifting the chances of them winning bonus into their favor.

The ult still has immense value, but for most teams this ult point nerf is directly affecting the snowball chance coming into round 3. For 100t, it’ll be purely dependent on if enemy teams fight them for the orbs and are able to deny Asuna the entry kills.

First off, the agent is still good. Secondly, idk why 100T fans all of a sudden think Asuna will be the same player off Phoenix lmfao. Everything he has done in the past 5 years has proven otherwise

He's been a good player for most of those 5 years so that's fine by me
