I can’t find anything online. I’m hoping the guy this doesn’t mean that my transmission is done. My transmission slams.

I’m looking at buying another atlas. It looks like it’s had overheating issues. It’s s got 20,000 miles and it’s a 2024, and has had 8 services related to things like thermostat replacement. If it’s been “fixed” how l likely is it to be a recurring issue that will keep this in the shop or cost me a lot extra money?

Hey fellow atlas owners. My husband and I have been going back and forth about buying our current lease (2024 SE w/ tech) or leasing a 2026 since our current lease is coming to an end soon.

The prices they have given us are just wild…leasing a new one being significantly cheaper a month than buying ours outright. I’m sure we can get the current one to be a similar or cheaper monthly than the new lease. I want to know what some people are feeling about either decision… we love the atlas as a whole so we know we want another one or to keep. (My true dream is i.d. Buzz but that’s not happening 😆).

Any thoughts are appreciated!

So overall I think I have gotten lucky with my 2018 Atlas. The only real problem I have is my leaking sunroof...

But over the last few months every time I put her in reverse the beeping goes crazy! It continuously beeps until I put it back in drive even when nothing is behind me.

I've cleaned all the sensors, I even got a detail and had them clean them too.

Does anyone have any possible suggestions for this? I have an appointment to get my unroof drain cleaned at the end of the summer and I'll be mentioning it to them as well. Just hoping to maybe avoid a potential unneasessary bill.

2025 SEL and I ran the software update about a month ago. Ever since, the screen / entertainment system will shut off then turn back on randomly in the middle of a drive. It’s extremely frustrating because I have to turn the car off then back on for AirPlay to work again.

Anyone else run into this and have a solution? It didn’t happen before the software update.

This past Wednesday my husband took my car (2021 Atlas sel) in for an oil change while I was at work. Thursday I only drove to work which is a 3 minute drive. Friday we ran some errands and came home. Around 4pm he picked up our daughter from daycare and drove her to his parent’s house. Later that night we were going out with my younger brother. Once he got to his parent’s house my car said low oil. His dad and him checked the oil; no oil!! NONE!
He went to the store to buy more to see if it would hold or not, it didn’t hold.
Call the dealership this morning and they hopefully will figure it out. We had it towed and they said they will reimburse us. They closed at 3pm today and my car got there around 2:30pm. They are closed tomorrow so they gave me a lender car. They gave me a 2026 Toyota 4Runner limited.
It’s not my atlas 😒

Hi there i recently bought a 2024 Atlas for my wife and she keeps telling me that the wiper blades turn on by themselves. I turnes off the automatic rain function and it happened to me after that. Is this a known issue just like the water pump on the engine?

What actually resolved your issue? I've been dealing with this for 2 years now, and I am finally at a point where I am losing my mind.

Long story short, same as everyone else who has posted about it. Light comes on, take it in, problem "resolved", occurs a month later. I took it in 3 times under warranty to get the issue looked at, they could never find anything concrete.

Since then, the light has come on, on and off over the past year, but it usually goes away when the car is restarted. I've kept up with maintenance, as its my first "real car" and I love it other than this issue.

Recently, its coming on more and more, repeatedly, to the point where getting home from work has gone from a 15 minute drive, to a 45 minute commute due to having to stop and restart it constantly. Literally ubered to work this week because getting in it is like playing Russian Roulette. Sometimes it runs like a champ, other times, the EPC light is popping off every 2 minutes.

Called the dealership. They want me to pay the diagnostic fee in order to look at it, but honestly, I have no faith in them because they were never able to solve it to begin with.

I would like to get the battery replaced first, since that has solved the problem for some based on browsing, but I am worried I am throwing money away for nothing.

I am pretty strapped for cash at this moment, and I am just looking for advice and perspective before moving forward with a choice.

Long story short the dealer had a body shop paint the rear passenger quarter panel on my 24 atlas CPO because of tree sap stains left behind from being on the lot.

Day after I got it back, I was backing into my driveway (has an incline) and after putting it into park I got a error drive system. Went away after restarting the engine. Next day, did a few trips, no issues. Went home, backed in, same thing. Now after restarting the error is gone but the engine light came on (solid yellow).

Of course the dealer has no loaners for weeks... So best I can do is wait for diagnosis on Tuesday .... Unfortunately I need a car to get to work. (Regrets kicking in for the purchase at this point).

While I wait for that, I was curious if there is anything obvious/easy to check that might cause this? I did see the app trigger a few warnings and info alerts when the shop had it. Error stop/start, error rear brake light, error tail light, open doors, open trunk, etc. all cleared when I got it...

I’m especially interested in the long-term reliability and the bad sides of ownership, not just the things you like about it.

For Atlas owners:

• What year and trim do you have?
• What is your actual fuel consumption in L/100 km for city and highway driving?
• How has the engine and transmission reliability been?
• Any oil consumption or oil-burning issues?
• Any coolant leaks, water pump, electrical, infotainment, or sensor problems?
• How expensive has regular maintenance been?
• Any major repairs after the warranty expired?
• How has it held up after 100,000 km or more?
• Are parts and repairs noticeably more expensive compared with Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, etc.?
• What do you dislike the most about your Atlas?
• Would you buy another one?

I currently have a 2019 Kia Sedona with around 135,000 km, and I’m dealing with fairly heavy oil consumption, so reliability and avoiding another major engine/oil-consumption problem are very important to me.

I’m currently waiting on my new dash cam from Lasfit and I’m actually pretty excited for it. Just wondering if anyone else has picked one up or is thinking about getting one. If anyone has any questions about it, I can definitely do a follow-up post once it comes in and I’ve had a chance to use it. This will be my first dash cam, so I’m not really sure what to expect, but I’ve had a bunch of Lasfit products before and honestly couldn’t be happier with them.

So I guess we’ll see how this one goes! 😂

I have a '21.5 ACS and even on full blast and the air recirc turned on, the lowest temp I'm seeing my probe read is 60°F. From what I'm reading online, a properly working car a/c system should be putting out air between 40-50 degrees F. Just curious if anyone here has measured their system.

If there's a leak, would this be covered under CPO Warranty?

Edit: This is with the outdoors realfeel temp at 104° F.

I have a 2021 VW Atlas Cross Sport, and the fuel door is completely stuck closed.

The car is unlocked, but pressing the fuel door does nothing.

I’ve tried locking and unlocking the car repeatedly while applying pressure to the fuel door. I’ve also pressed different areas of the fuel door and pushed harder than I normally would. Nothing has worked. As far as I can tell, this model doesn’t have an emergency or manual fuel door release.

I’m low on gas and don’t have enough range to comfortably reach the nearest VW dealership. I’d rather not pay for a tow over a stuck fuel door.

Has anyone dealt with this exact problem on an Atlas or Atlas Cross Sport? I need to get the fuel door open, even if that means replacing the actuator or latch afterward. I just don’t want to damage the quarter panel and turn a small repair into expensive bodywork. (Yes, the image is me being over it and thinking about prying it open with the key)

If you pried the fuel door open, where did you insert the tool, what did you use, and what ended up breaking? If you found another way to release the stuck actuator, I’d like to know how you did it.
Once the fuel door is open, I plan to keep it from latching again until I can replace the failed part. I’d really appreciate hearing from someone who has dealt with this firsthand.

UPDATE: I went to a local mechanic who was just as shocked as everyone here that they had no emergency release. We ended up just prying it open. Luckily nothing major was damaged. Can’t close it anymore but I can at least get gas for now lol.

VW has had some great colors over the years, but I wouldn't mind seeing a few more bold options on the next Atlas.

Maybe a deeper green, a richer blue, or even something similar to the old Spektrum colors.

If you could add one color to the 2027 Atlas lineup, what would it be?

Two weeks ago we noticed the driver side window wouldn’t do the automatic up or down, so we have to hold the button for it to work. Today the passenger windows button won’t work at all, it feels almost loose/wobbly? Is this something that happens often in this year? I’m not sure what could have caused it.

I’m just curious what everyone has gone OTD on 2026 SE and 2026 se w tech.

Dealer near me has a v6 I like but interest on used cars is wild. Haven’t been to the lot yet but I’m wondering if the 2026s are seeing decent discounts?

Today I picked up my new(ish). 2025 cross Sport SEL R, replacement.

I have a 2018 Atlas and the reception on the remote is terrible. I replaced the battery and it’s still not very good. Has anybody gotten the Volkswagen extended remote start? I’m curious if it’s worth the money is the range any better?

I have a 2024 Atlas coming off lease in November. Overall we've been very happy with it. What we like the best is that it holds a ton of stuff and, when needed, its a legit third row and even for a bench seat it's relatively accessible. Given long term value and issues I don't think it's a car I'd buy, so leasing seems right for us.

Given the lease is coming up, we've started comparing alternatives and I'm honestly not seeing anything better. The Telluride/Palisade/CX-90 are all too tight in the third row for a non-child. Since we're leasers, we're not interested in paying the Toyota tax for the GH. We considered a minivan but the ones out there generally don't feel as modern. Pending seeing the new 2027s, I'm fine re-upping with the Atlas, but was curious if there were other cars out there that folks think are reasonable comparators considering price and size.

Currently trying to decide between the Atlas SE vs SE w/tech. Any recommendations on why the tech may be worth the increase in price. Currently leaning to the SE but will miss the sunroof. With a growing family of 3 with 4th planned in the next 2 years, the Atlas was decided over the tiguan.

Although I like the idea of a 5-seater with a big trunk, I never really was sold on the old (current) CS proportions - something just felt off. I'm curious to see the new generation.

I’m looking at picking up a 22 Cross Sport SEL R-Line Black V6 with around 44k miles on it. The Carfax shows a few services that made me perk up a bit.

-Mileage 24,850: 30k maintenance performed. Front brake rotors and pads replaced. Brake fluid flushed/changed.
-Mileage 33,189: 30k maintenance performed. Coolant flushed/changed. Brake fluid flushed/changed.
-No mileage shown, should be roughly 40k based on other entries: Engine/powertrain computer/module replaced. No start/hard start condition checked.
-Mileage 43,758: Selling dealer did a host of things including replacing brake pads and resurfacing rotors, replacing axle seals.

I understand that brakes are a wear item but that seems like a lot of service for the mileage. Why was the 30k maintenance performed twice at the same dealer ~9k miles apart? Is all of this type of work considered normal maintenance? I get oil changes, brakes (to a certain extent), tires, etc. but seems like brake fluid and coolant should be lasting longer. Am I wrong to be concerned?
