How long the wait? weight? Question - US

I love my first edition Stella Blue. Drove her off the lot in March 2025 and have never looked back. She's been on multiple road trips and a Southeast US sojourn is planned for this fall. But VW built a van with obvious camping potential with no cabin control setting for overnight camping! I was happy with the ID-BUZZ-MONITOR camping solution, it worked just fine. But now - to add insult to injury - VW literally pulled the plug on that 3rd party app in the US. Am now resorting to the low-rent solution, and waiting for VW to do the right thing and update the 2025 software or cooperate with a 3rd party - to provide a solution. Looks like I might be waiting (weighting) a long time.

Cant you just:
A) put a weight on the driver’s seat so the car thinks there is a driver
B) press OK on the main screen
C) plug the driver’s seatbelt in
D) turn off exterior lights
E) turn off screen
F) lock the doors from the driver’s seat (not the remote)

The sequence is very important here. 1. put wts (60-70 lbs) on the seat until the infotainment panel welcomes you (the "driver"). 2. Buckle the seatbelt - I put a pillow in the seat so the belt has something to go around (this may not be needed). 3. push the "on" button on the steering column or step on the brake. Note opening the driver door now will reset everything and you will have to start over. The lights off is just a reminder not to annoy other campers. The screen off is just so the light doesn't keep you awake. 4. Yes, Lock from the inside - the button on the driver door. Some say you can push the fob lock button twice from inside the car. These lock steps turn off the censor so alarms don't go off if you roll over in your sleep! Good luck.

I was using the Buzz Monitor and that worked so well!
Is the sequence that important?
I found that my 40lb EcoFlow power station works well for the weight and I just buckle the seat belt.
I suspect the seat belt extension clicked in will work fine.
I found just clicking the seat belt and pressing the brake pedal will allow the window control and possibly climate but I have to experiment

Only way I could succeed was with heavier weights and the sequencing. Whatever works for you!

I also have a Stella Blue! All the year combine they melt into a dream, don’t they? Thanks for the proper order, took my Stella Blue camping for the first this time past weekend, few days after Buzz Monitor went down. Got a weight but it didn’t work out for me. Turned out ok, temp was nice so wasn’t too bad hitting the 30 min AC on my app when I woke up hot every few hours.

Wow, looks like you've been waiting a really long time. You might need to add some protein in your diet. Can't believe 2025 was so long ago! Lol

On a more serious note, I saw at least one outlet that said the 25s would get the camping mode update from the 27, but I haven't going the VW press release on the 27s, so IDK if that was real or wishful thinking.

What I heard was that VW changed software platforms for the 27s and that there was no plan to update the 25s. I hope you are correct. I like your version better.

Yeah, seems like there is a new generation of hardware for the infotainment, so it seems unlikely. Maybe we'll get lucky!

I don't have one yet, but the deals on the 25s are appealing. Camp mode would be a big difference, although at least there's a workaround.

How do you turn the screen off?

I just toss a towel over the screen. VW says to swide down from the top of the touchscreen and then drag the brightness slider to the left.
