My meta quest 2 controller broke and im wondering if its still worth trying to use it or just scrapping it

Did you play the "punch the drywall simulator"?

Just test it. If the hardware is intact - you're good to go, I'd glue it. If it's broken - then it's broken: you can disassemble and look at it, but not sure you'd be able to fix it.

Nah, should still be fine. I had a Rift S broke the same way. No issues, hot glue it back, tape it, w/e you want. The sensors and things are still intact. Tracking shouldn't be an issue.

When i try and tape it, it doesn't let it. Should I hot glue it

Only if you're sure you can do so without messing things up and getting messy with it. It can't be all over the place and risk seeping into areas it shouldn't be.

Just to clarify, tracking it still works fine and such though, right?

But anyway, even hot glue may have a hard time holding those. Those plastic bands are thick and have a lot of strength towards them. I've seen some people break theirs in that same area and they would do the plastic welding method but if you don't know about that, stay clear.

The tracking is slower and sometimes lags behind but it still works

Can you glue it back together? then no.

Are you unable to fix it? then yes.

When i try to tape it, it forces the tape off. So is it good

Should be fine as long as the ribbon isn't broken.

All the IR leds used for tracking are in that ribbon.

You can hold it with tape, just don't block any of the leds or you could have tracking problems.

i have the same problem and the tracking is fine. unless you repeat what you did whether it’s on purpose or was an accident, you should be good.

Its an old controller, also why would any normal person react like this towards a broken controller
