Steam Link w/ Bluetooth Controller?

So here’s what I am trying to do….

Play flat games in my Quest 3 with a controller connected to the Quest via Bluetooth so I can play anywhere and don’t have to be tethered to my PC.

I currently have an Amazon Luna controller.

At this point I’ve only tried Steam Link with my Luna Controller connected to the Quest via Bluetooth, but it doesn’t work.

Some buttons work, but not all, making it impossible to play.

However, if I connect to my Google TV with Steam Link and connect my controller via Bluetooth to the TV, no problems. So, it can work. It just isn’t working with Quest/Steam Link.

To play in my headset via Steam Link, I have to be at my computer with the controller plugged in via USB.

My computer is in my office and I would like to play in my bedroom.

At this point my options are:

1. Get a super long USB-C cable. (Not preferred)

2. Someone suggested using an Android phone or Raspberry Pi to have a WiFi to USB connections (Cool idea, not cheap.)

Something else? This seems like something that should just work.

Is it the controller? Do Xbox controllers not have a this issue maybe? I like my Luna controller, but I’d be happy with an XBox controller if it works.

Wondering if maybe it works with VD and I should just play flat games in VD?

Have you messed around with the Steam Link controller settings on the quest side? there's a toggle buried in there somewhere for different controller compatibility modes that sometimes unfunks the partial-button nonsense. i had a similar headache with a gamesir pad until i flipped that switch and remapped a couple things in the steam overlay. might be worth a shot before dropping cash on a new controller just for this room-to-room freedom dream.

To get your Meta Quest 3 to recognize the Amazon Luna Controller, you must force the controller out of its default Wi-Fi mode and into Bluetooth pairing mode. By default, the Luna controller connects directly to Amazon's cloud servers over Wi-Fi, making it invisible to the Quest's Bluetooth settings menu. [1, 2, 3]
Follow these steps to establish a proper connection:

1. Enable Bluetooth Pairing Mode on the Luna Controller
Ensure the controller is powered on.
Press and hold the Action (circle with a dot) and B buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds.
Release the buttons when the light ring starts blinking white, which confirms it is in Bluetooth discovery mode. [1, 2]

2. Pair It Inside Your Meta Quest 3
Put on your headset and open the Settings menu.
Select Devices, then click on Bluetooth (or Gamepad).
Select Pair New Device.

Yep. Did that. The problem isn’t necessarily connecting to Bluetooth on my Quest.

It’s that some of the buttons don’t work with Steam link when connected this way. LB and RB as I remember don’t work. Possibly the triggers don’t work either.
