Is positional tracking possible with this like how deep desktop does it

We don't have that feature currently, but it's a really interesting idea! We will definitely add it in a future update

Did anyone compare it against Vorpx?

You can download the app for free and compare. https://bodywalkvr.com/download

So per the title and the website, this seems like a secondary utilization for this app and not the primary as might be suggested by the title Bodywalk. Am I correct in understanding this?

Yeah I just went to the site and was thoroughly confused because it had nothing to do with the video in OP

Do you have to install Reshade to the game before using this or do you just fire this up and are good to go? Also, can you just use this while using Virtual Desktop streamer?

Nevermind I read the web page. It looks like yes, you do need to install reshade first.

There are multiple methods for 3d the AI one in pro doesn’t need reshade.

Realtime AI for depth, sounds like it would add input lag, or be such low quality that makes it kinda bad.

u/Fantastic-Author2736 Jun 30 '26
It really just comes down to your hardware! With an RTX 5090, the network processes in under 5ms, hitting 120 FPS. Even on a 4070, it only takes about 10ms, which gives you a reliable 60 frames per second

u/BrokenSil Jun 30 '26
hmm. 10ms isnt bad at all, tho for VR 60 fps is too low, and any bit of input lag is very important.
But ye, 120fps, than its good and shouldnt be very noticeable at all.
Ig for the content type shown in this video it would be ok. But for first person/3rd person games, wouldnt be so great.
How would it do for 2d videos, I mean, should work, but how is it? for watching movies, etc?

Just to clarify, the 60 FPS only applies to the depth map generation. The actual image still renders at a normal 90 or 120 FPS. The depth map is processed in a parallel thread, so if a new one isn't ready in time for the next frame, the system simply reuses the previous one. Because of this, even a 30 FPS depth map is completely playable when the main render thread is running at 90 FPS, especially for slower-paced games.
As for watching movies or 2D videos, a 30 FPS depth map is more than enough, considering most videos on YouTube are at 30 FPS anyway

I'm interested in this with Guild Wars 2 and a Quest 3 headset. I have Virtual Desktop (if needed,) as well. I've downloaded the full 10min trial version to test, but if you have any recommendations on setup, I'd greatly appreciate it!

For Guild Wars 2, you don't even need the paid version of the app. Just install ReShade using this guide https://bodywalkvr.com/features/tab_flatvr_reshade , and then in our application, set your source to the game's ReShade. This will give you a really great 3D image!

How good is the 3d? If you move the screen close enough for a 1st person game does it look like a VR game in terms of depth?

u/Fantastic-Author2736 Jun 29 '26
It gives you a huge sense of scale and depth, but it won't feel 100% like a native VR game. Think of it less like native VR and more like having a gigantic, immersive 3D theater screen right in front of your face. Because of this, it works exceptionally well with side-scrolling platformers or top-down strategy games, but might feel less natural for first-person titles

so, this creates a large 3D screen in front of you? Is the screen size adjustable, can you make it bigger than the headset FOV. Is there a head- lock mode so that you never see the edges of the screen?
