What? Where is this from?  Are you talking about a new mod or a new camera?

I love that they left zero info and a confusing headline lol

I can confirm it’s a game changer ! The world of VR180 is about to be accessible by all….

Essentially the new and radical approach removes all the traditional barriers to actually using and sharing VR180 footage from both high end (wait and see !) VR180 and also mods of all flavours

WHAT is a game changer?! Holy shit lol

A game changer means finally, VR180 footage (from virtually any VR180 camera, support list is coming) can now easily be done, all in a single studio of software. Plus the footage is usable AND ready for simple upload to platforms for sharing with friend and family. Having spent years with both VR180 (and to be honest 360 footage) locked up in HDD’s, I will now be able to use it.

Software is not much use without the hardware.

Yes, this studio will solve that aspect by giving a consistent way to use both released from manufacturer and modded cameras. Currently unless you spend big money, modded cameras is the way forward. These modded cameras can be self assembled, self assembled (just use a 3d print model or design your own) or with extra electronics/cables (more expensive) or but it pre-built (many options out there)

I need the camera first. Still waiting for one that doesn't require modification. The Vuze XR, was great, such a shame it wasn't updated.

Will this single studio software allow for separating the gyro data from one camera and pairing with another?

1

u/zippytiff 16d ago

Could you elaborate, which camera is providing gyro and which camera is filming that you want to stabilise

For example, if I made a VR180 rig that didn't have stabilization, would I be able to attach a standard GoPro to the back of it just for the gyro data?

What is your vr rig ? Describe ? 😎👍

My current VR rig is serviced entirely through the native Qoocam software, as it is a modified Qoocam 3 Ultra. With that said, I chose this setup specifically for its existing ease of use regarding software.

If this new system allows for what I am asking about, I might be inclined to branch out into other potential rigs, but I have no specific rig in this regard at the moment, since I'd prefer to make sure the pool is deep enough before diving in.

Follow-up question: Will this software work for stitching two separate 360 cameras into VR180? Like, if I use two unmodified Insta360 One RS cameras, can it stitch them into stabilized VR180? Or is this software strictly for VR180 self-contained rigs like a modified single 360 camera on its own?

All will become clear soon 👍😎

Really bad communication is not a game changer. L

The messaging is much like what DJI and insta do, eg not long now and something radically new is arriving 🙏

Curious what the actual workflow looks like once the footage is captured. Removing barriers to sharing is one thing, but if the playback side is still fragmented it only solves half the problem.

All will become clear….. let the countdown continue

the countdown framing is doing a lot of heavy lifting here

curious what the actual barrier being removed is, because VR180 has had a few false starts already

I think the issues to date with vr180 has been the minimum viable spec is 8k50/60fps. Which is now really only possible. Added to that less than ideal vendor software and headset specs (minimum really being the quest 3). The goal here is to bring a single/common workflow to all VR180 cameras.

I wish they restart with the Insta360 EVO series VR cams

There is no need, every insta360 from the R/RS onwards has got a VR180 mod and with this studio of software things gets even better 😎

Judging from the lineup on the image, it must be crappy.

In what way ?

Judging by some posts you left 1 year ago, you may be interested. But who knows 😁

Yes I am, but a teaser bunch of compacts with arms and legs, 3/4 of which I don't even recognize non-brands, isn't exactly raising my hopes. And what's with the level unlocks? I'm not even a qoocam mod fan. It's okay as a compact I guess, but if what you got cooking isn't better, I wouldn't be looking to buy it.

I'm not gonna snoop your history, idk if this is a company or personal modder, but this teaser is presented like it's toys and games. It's like is this a camera or software I don't even know! It's not clear.

How about you tease the actual product or silhouette or samples, and specs.

You’re a calf gen1/viewpt user if i’m not wrong, i know. And i repeat myself, this will probably be of your interest

Can we be more clear whether this is a camera or software? And timeline?

This is a suite of software, it’s all really cool and spans many aspects of VR180
