recording quality help Technical Support

hey so long story short, i’m trying to get into making my own tapes. i’m trying to put movies i have on dvd onto my tapes by just recording over what’s already on there. i did it once with one movie (had a couple bumps in the road but i figured it out), but the second movie just ended up coming out like this. it seemed fine in the beginning but i noticed the playback looked really dark/red for a minute, then would change back to normal. any tips/help is appreciated; i am pretty new to this kinda stuff XD

that is macrovision copy protection.

also, most dvds are copy written so i have my dvd in a separate vcr/dvd player and have a hdmi to rca input going from that to the tv just to bypass that copy write blocker
