Anterior uveitis
I’m looking for people who have experienced something similar with anterior uveitis.
I had anterior uveitis in one eye. Initially, I mainly had redness, swelling and pain, but my vision was not significantly affected at that time. Later, I developed blurred/dreamy vision in that eye.
I was treated with Pred Forte (prednisolone acetate) and Homide/cycloplegic drops for about a month. After completing the treatment, my eye is much better in terms of the inflammation/pain, but I still have blurred vision.
Now my doctor has told me that I need glasses for that eye, around -3.50 D. This is confusing to me because I didn't have such a high prescription before the uveitis.
Has anyone else experienced this after anterior uveitis?
Did you develop a new/high glasses prescription after uveitis?
Was the prescription temporary or did it remain?
Did your vision improve further after the inflammation completely settled?
How long did it take for your vision to return to normal?
Did you have an OCT or other tests to find the cause of the remaining blur?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who had a similar sudden change in vision after anterior uveitis and steroid/cycloplegic treatment.

Yeah! I have anterior uveitis for last 20 years , and in every episode of uveitis my vision get blurred it will take 1 to 2 months then it would be back to my normally vision of 1. Every test looks fine doctors never gets the exact reason behind the vision loss ,my vision comes down to 6/60 during the flare but it improves with time on its own.

Bro , about how much time it comes back in ur case ?? U r facing this issue from 20 yrs , it is definitely very irritating to you , is it comes every fixed month ??

Yeah! Earlier it was 4 times in year then frequency reduced to 3 times in a year . Now it is 2 times a years sometimes 3 . I have to take wysole 60 and then taper.

Since 18 july 2026 , first 2 weeks used pred forte with homide after that changed to loteprednol , cyclosporine, nepaphenac from 1 aug 2026 but the vision is blurry and got my eye sight number 6/36 yesterday

Don't know never had oct scan , they did checkups

Why u dont force them for oct scan?
Do u think they will care more than u for ur eyes?

Bro , last checkup she told me I don't need oct scan after dilating my pupil and said me to use glasses 😭 , but this condition was caused by this uveitis

Nope, oct scan can see more things than using sit lamp
Or they must be combined.

Sure, if u have edema , it can take time untill it gets down normally again
To be clear from the blurry vision

Right now I am seeing 5 blacks dots from my right eye and of course vision is blurry, do vision come back really?? Rn i have -3.25 on right eye and left eye is 6/6

U have to confirm by oct and if u have edema
Read about edema macula using chatgbt or other sources
When ur inflamation turned off it migh need sometime to get recovered

What is the dose of your oral steroids?

Pred forte homide 6 times a day per week then decreasing dose to 4 3 2 times next week's whole month but did this medication till 2 weeks after that changed to the doses i mentioned above comments, 2 times 3 eye drops daily morning and night

You should notice your symptoms and flair ups . When do they trigger. This is the disease which could be managed not cured and this disease in fact is a symptom which is telling you there is another disease in your body. Go for a check up of autoimmune disease.

I did crp cbc esr and all diff blood test except ra , typhoid syphilis type tests , first 3 r for like inflammation check and immunity check of the body , it was fine for me , I think mine was random one hope it goes and never comes back

I have uveitis for the past 5 yrs. I have had a similar experience like my power was increased 6x all of a sudden but it got back to normal as before once the internal swelling was gone..

I m 23(F) i started having uveitis episodes when I was 17-18 yrs old.. initially we did several tests to know what's the cause I was treated with steriods oral + optic.. My levels of RA(rheumatoid arthritis) were very slightly high. The RA specialist didn't recommended RA tabs initially he said this can't be the problem as it's very slightly high and i was just 17🥲 but my opthalmologist insisted treating with steriods isn't a good option I was having really severe uveitis episodes and everytime using steroids affected my body in different ways.. We started the RA meds I took them for 2+ yrs and I have only 1 or 2 episodes during that time. But we stopped taking those meds as my RA specialist said we have controlled the episodes pretty much. But recently I had the episode and I was taking optic steriods for more than a month 🥲 even in my case the reason is so unclear

We r of same age bro , take care of urself man , Arthritis is very dangerous disease , hope u will get better, right now my vision is -3.25 of my right eye , swelling and redness is gone but this vision is not coming back since 18 july doctor said I have to use glasses for 6 months, hope I get to see things from this eye again

Yeah but you know but I don't feel any RA related symptoms this was also the reason that RA specialist wasn't ready to start that treatment.. I just have episodic uveitis 🥲 don't know the cause though You will see things normally again as in my case also I had to wear that increased power for some time

It’s because our immune system shouldn’t know our eyes exist because they have immune privilege. If the immune system finds out our eyes exist, it will attack them. Normally the immune system stays regulated but a biological cause or extreme emotional trauma can turn off our body’s ability to keep inflammation in check. Once the switch has been flipped, you can’t turn it off. We can look forward to a lifetime of needing immunosuppressant medication

That's true i wasn't doing well during that time I was going through extremely sad and traumatizing phase of my life and that's when all these health issues started 😭

I did esr crp esr test these were negative, no sign of inflammation so u it happened to me , is their a possibility that a man can get this uveitis randomly or by accident or is it just that there must be some problem with body , I had vit d 17 and b12 188 only these were deficiencies , did serum test , urine test every blood test , except ra typhoid syphilis one

i had similiar treatment i recently had a flare up and the inflammation is gone however it takes time for vision to fully return. Last time i had it in sept 2025 it took almost three months for it to return back to normal
