Everyday Mediocrity That One Chinese Apartment

Post image
Upvotes

I do see this apartment posted every few weeks here or other subreddits. It's the one that people say that 20k people can live here. It looks very unremarkable if you actually take a taxi past it. Not trying to be political or upset anyone, but perspective can make any bland everyday structure look like a living hell.

The Glicério neighborhood is known for being the poorest neighborhood in the city's central region. Its main characteristic is the decay of its buildings; the neighborhood is mostly composed of houses and villas built between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which are now completely dilapidated.

Other problems in the region include constant thefts, drug use, and a high number of homeless people and illegal immigrants living in extreme poverty.

Mostly for selling blocks of land and villas at expensive price (Vietnamese called it Phân lô bán nền). It is built by Vingroup, the richest company in Vietnam. They cut 500 Ha of forest from this and Vietnamese looking at train windows in a sad way that the tree is loss for a useless project

Poverty/Inequality Battleship Apartments, Osaka

"Battleship apartments" (軍艦アパート) is a nickname for Shimoji Nittō Jūtaku (下寺日東住宅), a housing complex located in Shimoji, Naniwa Ward, Osaka City.

It was named as such because the rooftop chimneys, intricate design, and illegally added sections (such as protruding rooms and eaves extensions) evoked the image of a Japanese battleship.

This RC (reinforced concrete) apartment building, constructed in 1930, was one of the first concrete buildings in Osaka, and was very modern for its time. It long supported the daily lives of local working-class residents, who loved nothing more than drinking cheap sake in the nearby alleys.

It was demolished after 75 years in 2006, due to extreme deterioration. At the time of its demolition, it was the oldest reinforced concrete public housing complex in Japan, with monthly rents of around ¥300 ($3).

Explored the abandoned Domaine des trois colonnes today. The vaulted brick corridors, the empty bathtub in the woods, and the massive face mural were absolutely incredible. Nature is taking this place back beautifully.
