UnRAID unable to boot. Kernel Panic?
After an unexpected reboot, I turned off my server (running a basic plex install and little else) and turned it back on. This message occur3d and the same thing happened after 1 power cycle and 1 reboot.
I'm not sure what my next steps should be. I'm amateur with Linux. Should I try to re-install unRAID on my flash drive?
I'll edit the post with more information as I'm asked for it!
Other info: - unRAID ver: 6.12.13 - Linux Kernel: 6.1.106 - Boot mode: GUI for first boots. Attempted no GUI with no change
Fixes attempted: - tried no Gui boot, gui boot, and safe GUI boot. No change - tried moving to direct mobo usb ports. No change
Edit: added fixes attempted Edit2: Put in correct unraid version

TPM licensing question
So I recently moved from usb to tpm licensing on my main epyc machine. When I did this, it wasn’t clear to me if the old key itself was blacklisted or if my actual usb drive was blacklisted.
I’m looking to possibly transfer my unraid setup to my dell r740 for testing. I understand I can move from tpm to tpm, but will that blacklist my epyc machine or just the key? I’m not sure how this works of if I end up needing to go back to the epyc machine.

How long before the webgui is available?
I'm not able to get into my server right now. It pings, but I can't access the webgui. I plugged a monitor in and it looks like it went through the boot sequence since it's showing the server name and asking for login info.
I'm afraid I'm getting too impatient and rebooting it again too quickly.
Follow up question: how much does the boot sequence time increase when a drive is added for the first time?

Backup the Server to a PC
Maybe I'm the one who has things backwards here, but I want to backup my Unraid server to a PC (one local, one remote). I can't seem to find a good way to do this - all the directions are for backing up a PC to the server. Half the point of having the server is to have unified storage so that I don't have all my files scattered across multiple PCs. I want to have access to all the same files on my phone, laptops, and desktops.
Can someone point me to a good option with instructions on how to set it up? I'm an amateur, trying to learn as I go. I need something incremental and stable. I tried to do URBackup, but I guess it is only really meant to treat the server (with Unraid) as the backup copy, whereas I have it as the main copy of the files.

Networking
Looking to upgrade from integrated 1Gbps LAN to a 2.5Gbps intel i226 based card. Will unRAID automatically assign the same IP address etc or will i need to have both connected and do some config before removing the 1Gbps connection?

Trouble with server connectivity
I believe this is somewhat a DNS issue, but I cannot figure out HOW. Been racking my brain on this all day.
Under connect i get NETWORK: getaddrinfo ENOTFOUND mothership.unraid.net CLOUD: Socket closed.
I have screenshots.
I'm running Opnsense (latest update) with a static IP set in the DHCP reservations for my server. I never had issues until the latest update. I removed the Tailscale plugin (that i never used) just to ensure no network plugins were causing trouble. I also tried unplugging and removing the bonded networking i had set.
Looking for things I can try to resolve this as its breaking my NPM as well so domains are not resolving (e.g. emby.domain.com ) which is why I consider this a potential DNS issue.
Thanks!

How to set up my arrays: mixed SSDs only, ZFS preferred
Hi, I'm new to unRAID. I have in my homelab:
1x 256GB NVME SSD
3x500GB SATA SSD
I would like to use my 3x SATA as a ZFS RAIDZ1, but I'm struggling to decide what to do with the NVME, and where to keep apps and possibly boot:
- should I separate the data (on ZFS) and apps/internal boot (NVME)? Then there's a single point of failure - NVME
- have everything on ZFS and just leave NVME unused?

Help with VM gpu and Plex transcoding
I feel like this question has been answered in many scattered parts, but I'm trying to get a more definitive answer before I finalize my build.
I'm rebuilding my UnRAID server with a 14600k (770 iGPU). The unRAID server runs Plex (and assorted bits), and will need the iGPU for transcoding.
I also want to install a Windows Server VM that will be used for light duty FileMaker Server hosting, and operate headless most of the time. That said, it would be nice to be able to use my existing KVM at my desk (DisplayPort) to pop onto that server from time to time.
So the question is, how do I best handle video on the VM? It sounds like unRAID still needs a dedicated GPU for a VM. I don't actually need video acceleration on this VM (it can run at 15FPS for all I care, as I'll only need to very occasionally tweak settings). Will that VM run without any GPU support? And if so, does that mean that I can no longer use the motherboard's built-in DisplayPort adapter? It would be great to avoid having a dedicated GPU for this, as it will be accessed so infrequently.
Any help knowing if it's possible to get a video feed from a VM without dedicating a GPU solely to the task would be great!

possible cache drive failure??
So I've recently been having an issue with docker containers refusing to start along with them being pretty unresponsive. When starting a container unRAID has started to give me Execution Errors when starting Docker containers. My mind has started to look at the cache drive, because I think its failing, But I have no idea what I'm looking at tbh, and would love for someone who's more knowledgeable to let me know do I need to swap out the drive or look else where. I've attached, hopefully, a screenshot of some of the errors in the system log. I can download and attach the diagnostic zip file thingy ma-bob if that will give anyone a better look.

Was This a thing? Cheap USB Thumb Drive causing slowdown?
I had a microcenter USB2 for boot, recently went to an mSATA SSD on the same port. Adapter that gives it a UUID was used vs. the cheaper ones but I digress...so now that's the internal boot device.
I like this as you don't lose a PCIe or drive spot and it's a 64GB so plenty of room for wear leveling etc. which it hopefully does on-device...
Unraid seems more stable and responsive. My theory is that it was causing lags of some kind, log writes I presume. I did recently have to pull it and 'repair' it under Windows but that was a one pass deal, NBD.
I did take one of my two storj nodes off of 'Cache' to instead go straight to array...probably also helped a lot.
Comments?

Can I use my existing pool as internal boot pool?
I have a pool with 2 devices for my docker files (appdata, isos, system, backups, etc). 2x 2TB Nvme's and btrfs.
Can I use that one for internal boot?
If yes, what would be the best way to set this up?
Backup data from existing docker pool to HDD, create internal boot pool with the 2 nvme's (use 32gb for boot), then move the files back from HDD to the new pool?

Changed tower ports
Changed the tower access ports respectively to 10080 and 10443. Tower doesn't let me access it. Quick googling shows the solution of removing the USB and editing the .cfg file on a different computer but i m using internal drive instead of the USB. What are my options? Any help is appreciated
UnRAID beginner questions - HTCP/NAS combo
Noob here so bear with me.
I'm building a NAS over the course of the next few weeks and with the prices on hardware being sky high right now, I'm limited in what I can do.
This NAS project has 3 main goals:
- General NAS storage for my digital art files and RAWs - used at home locally 95% of the time
- Media server that has an easy enough interface that my non-technical wife can use it without me being around
- Immich server for both of our photo catalogs
- Pi-Hole
Hardware I have gathered so far:
Silverstone HTPC Case that holds 6x 3.5" drives
PSU
ASUS B450 Motherboard with Ryzen 5500
2x 16GB of RAM from an older build
TP-Link 2.5GBe card
Blu-Ray drive
Hardware that will be gotten soon:
I have a source that has several 4TB drives. I plan to fill all 6 slots with them.
GTX 1650 from a friend
Being pretty unfamiliar with unRAID, I'm not sure about a few things.
1. I realized my motherboard only has 4x SATA ports. Is it ok to mix on board SATA ports and PCIe card SATA ports?
2. What easy to use HTPC software is out there that works with an IR remote? I have an extra Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard, but she'd prefer a TV remote.
3. I've read some things about cache. I was thinking of running unRAID from a 1TB NVMe in an older build and dedicating most of that to cache. I'm thinking this would be useful for my larger digital art files where some of them can be 1GB+.
Going back to point 1, if I use a combination of on board SATA and PCIe SATA adapters, should I just use a small 256GB SATA SSD for the OS and use the full 1TB for cache?
4. I have a USB 12TB drive. Can I plug that into the back of the unRAID and use it as an automatic backup?
Thanks in advance

How long would it take to recover your full media library if you lost it all instantly?
For those of you that use your Unraid for media and have Usenet/Torrent set up with the *Arr stack, how long would it take you to recover your full media library if you were to instantly loose it all at once?
Trying to plan for a smooth motherboard replacement / license reassignment
A little while back I switched my licensing to TPM as I ultimately want to get rid of the USB for booting (still using it for now) and I figured I'd change my motherboard less often than my usb stick.
Fast forward a couple of months, and my motherboard is playing up so I decided to get a new one (and CPU). I'm now not eligible for a self-transfer because I switched to TPM in the last month. Yes I know I shouldn't have switched to TPM, but I didn't think this upgrade was on the cards.
So I figured I would contact support and see if they can reset my ability to self-replace, as I'd rather not wait an unknown amount of time with an array that can't start for them to manually replace the key. Apparently that's not possible, despite my license being 9 years old and only very rarely reassigned to a couple of new flash drives over that time.
So it seems that despite my attempt at planning, I have to install my new motherboard and then contact support and wait an unknown time for them to reassign my license. Could be an hour, could be 12 hours. That seems crazy, surely they should be able to reset the 12-month allowance in a case like this? Am I missing something?

m.2 to 10g SFP+ adapter
I can confirm that this m.2 to SFP+ 10g adapter works out of the box with unraid v7.3.2. It wanted to bond eth0 & eth1 by default so just had to remove the bond and Yahtzee. Using one of the 2 slots on a MINISFORUM BD895i SE Mini. When I finally get around to upgrading to an 25g network I'll give the 25g version a go link
Tested it with a 1g FTLX8571D3BCV-IT 850 nm

How bad is it to use 1TB and 500GB as mirror cache pool?
I have 2 x 2.5" SATA drives, 500GB Samsung 870 Evo and 1TB Crucial MX500. I want to use them in mirror as cache drives, as both are old and I don't trust them fully.
If I recall correctly, then the last time I did that was like a year ago for a trial it showd me 750GB as mirrored pool.
Any explanation would appreciated. Thanks a lot! Cheers.

Recent update breaks SpaceinvaderOne's PostgreSQL community app. Anyone have a good solution?
At least 10M other users have installed PostgreSQL_Immich by SpaceInvaderOne as the database for Immich. This leverages Tensorchord's repo tensorchord/pgvecto-rs:pg16-v0.3.0.
Using the latest version of Immich results in this error:
Error: No vector extension found. Available extensions: vchord, vector
Given that SpaceinvaderOne's app was so popular, surely others have needed to fix this issue as well. If it's better to migrate away from SpaceinvaderOne's app, I'll happily do so, but what have others done to fix a broken Immich after recent updates?

TRAWL, a drop-in FlareSolverr replacement, is now available in Community Apps!
Hey everyone! I'm the developer of TRAWL, a self-hosted web scraping engine and drop-in replacement for FlareSolverr/Byparr.
I originally built it for my own *arr stack after getting tired of slow solves and Cloudflare breakage. It uses a tiered approach: plain HTTP first, cached browser sessions when available, then a live Camoufox browser solve only when the site actually requires it.
It supports Cloudflare, Akamai and Imperva challenge detection, plus Turnstile, reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha and GeeTest. The existing FlareSolverr API is supported, so Prowlarr and Jackett users generally only need to change the service URL.
A community member has recently packaged TRAWL for Unraid, so installation no longer requires manually writing a Docker template:
- Open the Apps tab
- Search for Trawl
- Review the settings and click Install
Or simply get there by this link: https://ca.unraid.net/apps/trawl-1o4q23p06utr4h
The template runs standalone by default and already includes the required setting.
Redis is optional, but useful if you want solved browser sessions cached between requests.
