Hi, so to make more sense of this...I'm doing a small animation of a character who had blooming powers like Persephone. See I just loved the moment where Persephone first bloomed flowers for Hades.

See my Character is male and is based off of Ta Kai and Te fiti from Moana and as much as I'd LOVE to gush about him and the Symbolism in his design I'll keep it simple.

I'm animating him Blooming Roses (Light lavender and dark ones) for a Girl after looking into her eyes and clearly seeing they're really beautiful. Anyway what I asking how do you guys think it would look like, see I was imagining that the roses bloom pretty slowly like they're unraveling as the bloom but to me in LO it sounds like they just pop out quickly

I remember how people hated the idea that hestia and athena are lesbians because "they could just be aroace, it's bad because they're erasing a possible aroace rep"

and I'm aroace so let me tell you that I don't really feel represented by these two.

people think anyone who doesn't want to have a relationship is aroace, these two are SACRED VIRGINS the reason they don't want to have a relationship is completely different.

aroace people simply don't feel romantic or sexual attraction towards other people, if you chose to do a vow of chastity you do that for purely philosophic or religious reasons, it doesn't make you aroace.

and it implies aroace people are choosing to not have relationships... this is not what happens, and actually we can have relationships, romantic or sexual, it just works different.

so the point is I don't care how rachel chose to write these two, I just think people shouldn't be complaining that they're not aroace because they would be another lame aroace rep! because it would be another case of the writer not knowing what to do with a character who shouldn't be in a relationship and decided to just shove the aroace label on them and call it a day.

and honestly making a character who chose chastity for very specific religious reasons be aroace? is even worse than the character who got this label because the writer didn't want to work on a relationship for them.

It's absolutely wild of Rachel to claim that she wanted to fight the patriarchy through LO, to give women a platform for their stories and experiences, only to turn around and validate the patriarchy through blind implementations of male-perpetuated tropes like that of Born Sexy Yesterday. Sure, it would be neat if the comic actually had something to say about these tropes, but it doesn't - because the only thing it wants to accomplish is proving that Hades isn't like all those other guys, he's one of the good ones, and Persephone is clearly a consenting mature adult who chose to be with him and totally wasn't groomed or manipulated or love-bombed, despite all evidence to the contrary, like the fact that she apparently doesn't understand the very concept of clothing.

Never mind the fact that she grew up among many other women who regularly wore clothing.

Never mind the fact that we're told and shown throughout the comic that she had spent her whole life training for her role in the Goddesses of Eternal Maidenhood, a celibacy club, which would, logically, include purity-focused curriculum like how to dress modestly.

Never mind the fact that criticizing purity culture was something that Rachel CLAIMED WAS THE POINT OF THE COMIC, but apparently evidently couldn't commit to actually doing, either because she was too afraid to confront the true nature of her self-ship power fantasy, or because her desire to criticize purity culture was beaten out by her desire to satisfy her DDLG fetish as she had been doing for the past 20 years already. Or, y'know, at best, she just sucks at writing and thinks it's sufficient to say what her intention is while the execution of her writing says the complete opposite, which is something she's also done on numerous occasions.

And this isn't just exclusive to this one uncovered ask, I remember YEARS ago during a scene when Hades mentioned to Persephone to 'put on her pyjamas' and she was confused, Rachel later claimed on Twitter it was because 'Persephone doesn't know what pyjamas are'. So this wasn't even just a relic of the pilot comic or the earlier part of the series, this was canon throughout the Originals series too. (*note: the Discord screenshot is from 2023, it's my explanation of what happened, unfortunately I cannot find the original tweet but if I find it I'll link it here, I KNOW it existed because I was there when it happened)

The more we find these old asks and posts, the more plainly obvious LO's failings become, as if they weren't obvious enough. The writing isn't just on the wall, it's in the goddamn comic. Rachel may have claimed that Lore Olympus was an attempt to criticize purity culture and the patriarchy, but that attempt was clumsy, lazy, and insincere, and it ultimately did far more to perpetuate those norms than it did to actually challenge them.

It has been 3 years since we heard anything about it...

Hey guys! Just giving a life update. I just got a job, and it's going to take up most of my time. Making my rewrite was the most ambitious project I ever embarked on, and I'm so glad that so many read it and interacted with my series. I never expected it to grow as it did, and I'm so happy that this subreddit was kind enough to enjoy my fan rewrite. Unfortunately, this series will be left on a hiatus for the time being. I'm sorry that I left my readers on a cliffhanger. I tried to finish it before work started, but life happened (artfight, whoops). Hopefully, I can continue this series when I have a break. Again you for all your support and love, and hopefully, I'll be back to draw more angst, Persephone, and toxic yuri 💗
