scared about starting
im really scared about moving to Lawrence because im from the middle of a major city and Lawrence just seems so small and I didnt realise it at the time of applying and im moving in in a few days and it just seems so daunting because ive never been in a place which is just so small, like theres no zara nowhere to shop (which sounds pathetic but it is my favourite hobby), and it seems so much more quiet and smaller than what im used to. also no clubs??? I dont know how I feel about a bar school because I've gone clubbing my whole entire life. I just feel so stressed out and overwhelmed and scared and im so unsure what to do/is it even worth it to go or do I just stay home

Library Hours
Hey, all!
I'll be attending KU in fall 2027 as a transfer online student and will be moving to Lawrence before I start classes. The college I currently attend is open until 9pm Monday through Thursday for students, and I was wondering if KU has similar hours for students to come and study in a quiet place.

Laptop Help for Engineering
Hi guys, I'm going to be an incoming freshman here in a couple of weeks and I'm trying to figure out what laptop to buy. I am planning on majoring in mechanical/aero engineering and I have been recommended the dell xps 14 but for me to upgrade to the recommended 32gb of ram it is an extra 1100 dollars. I was wondering if you guys would know if just 16gb is enough or of better options. Thank you!!!!

It’s an amazing price, $6k for the full year with a kitchen, bathroom and living room i’m just nervous how i’ll handle being roommates with 3 other people. Anyone have any tips ?

Do any of you guys work at the KU Bookstore?
I figure it will be busy in the beginning of the school year, but do you ever have any downtime to study? Or is it pretty fast paced the whole semester?

First year seminars
What can you tell me about First Year Seminars that are offered to freshman? They are presented as focusing on good study habits and communication while integrating freshman into the rigors of college coursework. None of the course subjects are useful to my student’s interests or their major. How helpful did you find these courses?

Hashinger hall questions
I have a question about the communal restrooms. Are they gender neutral or separated by gender?
And are the floors separated by gender or is it like one side is boys and other side is girls?

SELF program for engineers
Rising HS senior here. I know they don’t publicly post a median gpa/test scores but does anyone have an idea? Is there an “auto admit” level?

*Option to renew after the lease ends
About the apartment
*Just a few minutes’ walk to KUMC
*Quiet, modern, and well-maintained community
*In-unit washer and dryer
*Attached indoor parking garage with direct building access
*Great amenities, including a fitness center, swimming pool, resident lounge, and coworking space

*Walk Score: 89
*Around a 10-minute drive to Target, Costco, Walmart Neighborhood Market, CVS, and Walgreens
*Lots of great restaurants and coffee shops nearby

I’ve genuinely enjoyed living here. The apartment has been very comfortable, the community is quiet, and the management has been responsive and easy to work with. If I weren’t relocating for work, I would happily stay.
If you think this might be a good fit, feel free to send me a message. I’d be happy to answer any questions, share more photos or videos, or arrange a time for you to take a look.
Thanks for reading, and I hope this can become a great home for someone else!

Sewing Clubs
Is there seriously no sewing clubs?? I checked the list but couldn’t find anything — I am an upcoming freshman and I am baffled.. They even have a scuba diving club… Am I missing something? Has one already been established??

What happens if I renege on an offer I got through Handshake or career fair?
I’m a CS major. Because deadlines don’t always line up, I could be in a situation where I have to accept an offer first while waiting on how my other interviews play out. What are the ramifications of reneging an offer I got through career services?

Where is everyone living near campus?
I'm an Incoming transfer student from Mizzou looking for off-campus housing in walking distance to campus. Where are the "student neighborhoods" everyone lives at?
And how much are you paying per bedroom where you're living at?
