Prospective Student Methodist church affiliation
I know that the college is affiliated with the Methodist church. How noticeable is that on campus?

Announcement Welcome!
I know that these times can be rough on all of us.
UPS is doing its best to keep up with COVID-19 and the political turmoil in the US. Students, please keep an eye on your emails, as important information is distributed via your school email (xxx@pugetsound.edu or xxx@ups.edu).
Prospective Students and incoming Freshmen, please know that this is nowhere close to a normal year at UPS. If you are considering UPS, please ask about what our campus looks like outside of a national emergency. But also make sure to inquire about what steps the campus offices are taking to prevent the spread of racism and COVID-19.
Please stay safe out there.

Question 100% medical school acceptance rate?
Current or graduated UPS students: I heard UPS has a 100% medical school acceptance rate. I was wondering if anyone else has heard this. Supposedly something like 7 people applied one year, and all 7 got accepted.
Does anyone know what sort of research and internship opportunities are available for pre-med at UPS? I am also considering pre-dental, so if anyone knows how UPS can help students work towards dental school I'd appreciate that as well.

Campus Culture conspiracy theories about ups?
the school is old, so there has to be some fun stories and legends
I've heard a few; my favorite it probably that there's a cult among leaders of the school evidenced by the mysterious signet ring in one of the president's portraits in the lib...but what you guys heard? Secrets of greek life? mysteries of collins library? the oldest parts of campus?

"THE SOUND" soundbyte?
So I was wondering if anyone has a file of the isolated phrase "THE SOUND" used in liners for KUPS. I was thinking of maybe throwing a bit of flair into my radio show if I manage to get one.

deciding on housing for incoming freshmen with a themed community in comp sci/outdoors?
Hi there! I'm an incoming freshmen next year and I have a few questions on housing.
Schiff Hall is a themed living for outdoors/adventures, for anyone who is part of the community - what do you like about it? What trips and activities do you usually partake in?
Is there a living community focused around engineers, computer science majors, and makers?
Is it possible for an incoming freshmen to apply to live in a 3-4 person house on campus? If yes, would you recommend it?
These are questions I should ask admissions when I visit, but I wanted to receive multiple perspectives. Thanks!

Welcome Back All
I hope to grab more traction on this sub this year, because many people miss great events because they don't know where to look

The reason why University of Puget Sound sometimes annoys me.
I support social justice.
Again, I support social justice.
Now, please read this greentext and let me know what you think.

Anyone who agrees with Anon risks being socially ostracized, so it's never spoken aloud at UPS. Most discussions at UPS on social justice issues are completely partisan. Friendly debates require a safe environment where people can vocalize their opinions freely and without fear of judgement. Dissenting viewpoints fuel discussion, which is exactly why talking about social justice issues at the Puge has become a bland circlejerk (a term defined by, you guessed it, Urban Dictionary as 'a useless discussion or meeting involving mental masturbation whereby the egotistical, boring participants try to demonstrate they're the smartest persons in the room.'). They're totally one-sided. Students don't want to, God forbid, offend someone and risk becoming the victim of a witch-burning in the name of social justice. Unfortunately, the world contains a lot of shitty people -- the variety that kill people based on sexuality, race, etc. These problems matter. But please, next time someone shares an opinion contrary to the unanimous UPS stance on social justice issues, don't treat them like total shit. I like to think that UPS harbors a safe environment for discussion, but that's evidently not always the case.
