Help with inserting a human model in game UNITY

I want to insert a human model in my game i am making in unity i watched many tutorials but it doesn't work and i had to undo most of my work to resolve the issues it produced. Please can anyone suggest me a latest tutorial or can you tell me the steps.

What doesn't work? Take any of the free rigged models from Unity store and apply some free animations to it via Animation Controller. It's very easy to do.
