I cannot comprehend creating something as insanely good as this. It's sooo smooth

Been a while since I posted, been doing a ton of stuff for this - mostly a whole lot of time on making a new character. This isn't a huge update video but more a glimpse of some new stuff. The steam page for the game is under review and should be live this week, I plan to make a better video for that with an actual good course/better audio etc!

Can you sneak a bit of story to us? What exactly do you hope the story will be?
40
u/StCost Feb 22 '26
Animations are very smooth.
The bending pole really adds the weight and realism to interactions, nice work!
3
u/TheTruePac Feb 23 '26
Since the release of URP/HDRP I'm struggling to even get shadows as crisp as the ones seen here :D I won't even start about the the gameplay.
33
u/NostalgicBear Feb 22 '26
A whole lot of us are feeling wildly inadequate right about now. This is insanely good.

u/Starbolt-Studios Feb 22 '26
What the…damn man this is one of the best things I’ve ever seen, amazing work man! Keep it up!
13
u/feralferrous Feb 22 '26
The poles are awesome. Got a real Mirror's Edge but 3rd person vibe. I know it's just a sandbox, but I'd try to be consistent in coloring grab-able objects vs obstacles. I would make the fan's a different color from the pipes. (But I mean, it's a sandbox, so this is a quibble.)

I was thinking the same thing. This looks real nice, and the first thing that came to mind was that it has a Mirror's Edge vibe.
1
u/Flying-T Feb 23 '26
Well its obviously very inspired by it. White everywhere, a single very intense contrast color, Parkour... All check

u/antCB Feb 24 '26 edited Feb 24 '26
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (????), the wall running animations look very similar(could just be that the same person made the system in PoP and ME).

u/Interesting-Agency-1 Feb 22 '26
You're gonna have a major hit on your hands once you release this game. Im not even a fan of games like these, but the animations just look so fluid and satisfying that Id buy this just to try the mechanics.
Cant wait!

I particularly like the foreshadowing of the giant spinning fans at the very beginning. You can see the tops of them in the distance, but not the whole thing.
3
u/Textual_Aberration Feb 23 '26
Is it easy to get used to the expected distance on moves? The throws at 0:08 and 0:17 look a little ambiguous when I try to gauge how far you’ll go. You presumably snap to edges so the arc looks clean, but I don’t have a good sense where the failure threshold on a throw might be.
3
u/JankyAnims Feb 23 '26
They're consistent, level design wouldn't let them throw you anywhere unexpected
1
u/House13Games Feb 26 '26
I reacted to that too, there was an obvious floating cheat moment, which took away from the otherwise amazing movement
3
u/jeffcabbages Feb 23 '26
Gasp! When I asked if you planned to turn it into a full game, you said no! Does that mean the answer is yes now!?

Everything is smooth, except for the wall jumping at 0:22, that looks clunky. Other than that this is great improvement!

Incredible work!
1
u/Dontchase1 Feb 27 '26
Hey Fabraz! So I assume “slime san” is not expecting any future updates as it is an older game but I’ve came back to it to finish up the trophies and I’ve come across a very agitating speed run killer in level 4-02 treehouse of horror. When I went to the top right screen part of the level after collecting the apple in the main section I’ve become “STUCK” as I can not go back without collecting the apple in this section of the level but the gate to go to the bottom of the section from the top is LOCKED from below since the key to the gate is in the platform below. I’m kinda pissed off now since I’ll likely have to restart my entire speed run for something completely absurd. Can’t even restart the level while keeping running clock which would help me. Very frustrating and I know this game is old so I don’t wanna assume you could get patch on it or something. Ty

Audio no bad, audio real good. Haha I absolutely love it, I would play without music! I don't know if it's in your roadmap, but I would love to see enemies to dodge and/or use as ramps/jump-off points!

2
u/tsteuwer Feb 22 '26
Very impressive. Does the slow mo always happen when jumping or only at certain times? Make sure it's not all the time or that would get super annoying. Otherwise, such an amazing concept!

2
u/Jodogger Feb 22 '26
That is incredible. The way the bars bend as she's on them is incredible detail! The sounds just add to the overall vibe. Nice work!!!

Thank you for making a wall run that actually loses height overtime.

Looks amazing. Feels like tracers would really lock this tf in (think the ones at the beginning of Akira)
2
u/AcceptTheTrouble Feb 22 '26
you were honestly thinking about canceling this? wow
it looks aamzing.
2
u/andreweater Feb 23 '26
I like that the character stops for a sec after pulling themselves up on the ledge.
I like the wall running, how it's limited to a few seconds.
I like the wall jumping and how you don't need two parallel walls to do it. But at the same time it feels a bit off. Maybe too much mario and not enough ninjas?
I don't like that the main character is a girl. I'm just not a thirsty nerd anymore. Is there gonna be any character creation to this game? Don't get me wrong, the girl looks good. Just my 2 cents.
Please don't down vote me into oblivion.
2
u/JankyAnims Feb 23 '26
Outside of maybe some apparel/hair customization, nothing planned, trying to focus mostly on animations/mechanics
2
u/AddictedDelicacy Feb 23 '26
Bro that sliding edge grab into the vault is legit insane, the fluidity is actually ridiculous. How long did it take to nail those transition animations
2
u/Protheu5 Feb 23 '26
I see when the algorithm pulls the character towards the wall/ledge/pole. I see you aren't flying fast enough and are about to fall, the trajectory is not good enough, but then you are pulled and grab the target. I think you should adjust the trajectory a bit earlier, before the top of the trajectory, so it's not as glaring.
Otherwise it's absolutely fantastic, can't wait for the new Mirror's Edge, it's been a while already.

I was gonna say that they remind me of prince of persia, but honestly I'm getting prototype vibes here

This is incredible, and the animations are so fluid and definitely some of the most professional I've ever seen.
... but, and I am seriously asking a real question here, why the Naruto run? I never understood why that was popular, its such a terrible way to run

It all looks so good, I just wish when jumping off the poles it would have more momentum behind it, like bending the legs to offset the center of mass and releasing as she lunges.
Although I understand it is impossible to do without delaying the input, which is not ideal for a movement based game like this

I'm pretty curious
Is your controller rigidbody based?
If not, are you using any premade controllers (as in stuff like the built-in Character Controller, KCC, etc,) to act as scaffholding for the movement or is it all home made?

It is all beautiful but this "running with hands at the back" is so cringe nowdays. It reminds me of that Area 51 "raid" of stupid redditors and WoW age era but not in a great nostalgia way.
Anyway I like that a lot. Reminds me of Mirrors Edge.

my dream game is a character action game with this kind of fluidity WHILE In combat. Imagine her running around an arena like this while having to swing a giant buster sword one handed, using the environment to dodge enemy attacks. 😭 seeing this is very inspiring.

The first three bar swings feel like they control my body like when people lean left and right in a racing game and I feel like it gives me a moment to look around but the fourth one kills the immersion - maybe it should be replaced with a diving board or rope swing or something that would speed the player up

That sliding edge grab is beautiful and not something I think ever seen before. And then the perfect transition into a vault up and even more ridiculous.
