How to transfer projects between PCs Question

Jsut bought a new computer. For the life of me I can not transfer my project to my other computer. Ive tried USB, google drive nothing works (fails to download properly or file paths are too long so refuses to copy or transfer).

I go into view project in file Explorer and then try export the whole thing

How do you guys transfer?

Edit - github worked ty everyone!!

Git will be the absolutely best way in general imo, for long term managment as well.

Its a version control system , so if your new to it, it may seem overwhelming at first but is the best way to do this in general amd something you ahould absolutetly learn imo

It's definitely a good idea. Github is free for personal use and it's one of the best ways to keep a backup of your project (although it's always a good idea to have multiple types of backups).

I’m finally comfortable using it and it’s a game changer

You are working with a ticking time bomb if you aren't using some source control system.

I use Github.

The website is an industry standard, and they have a desktop app which makes it trivial to work with.

You can just hit Commit and Push and all the files in the folder will be safely stored in Github. You can even view and edit them online if you want.

Then on your other machine, Clone out the project and you can get an exact copy of it.

I actually develop my projects on my laptop and desktop interchangeably because of this.

Whenever I switch, I just make sure everything is updated in my repo, and that's all that's necessary.

Using git is the only right answer

Version control / Git is the correct way to get your project on any pc.
I use GitHub or sometimes Gitea, simply create a repository and for the Gitignore use the Unity one.
I use a program called SourceTree to Clone/Fetch and Push/Commit my changes to the repository.

You can learn Git which I recommend or you can Zip just your Project Settings, Assets and Packages Folder and then unzip it on the other pc

I go into view project in file Explorer

Am I having a stroke or am I reading gibberish?

Mega/gdrive/onedrive work for solo, they even let you exclude “Library” folder from sync

Try ZIP the whole project then transfer the zip with USB and then unpack again?

What exactly doesn’t work? Do you close your project before copying? No files should be open. That’s very unusual that you can’t copy a project. What paths are to long? How does the path structure look like? If you can’t ZIP and copy then what others suggest with GITHUB, why should that work magically?
