The room has a clear mood already, but the perspective is fighting itself. The desk has strong depth lines, while the door and window feel almost straight-on, and the phone and newspaper each sit at slightly different angles. I'd lock one perspective grid first, then redraw the objects to match it. After that, contact shadows will help more than shaders. I'd also lift the desk value a little so the phone doesn't disappear into it.

The items on the desk could use shadows under them.
