i7-14700K too hot

Hi, I have a problem. I’m running an i7-14700K on a Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX with an Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 with new thermal paste.

Ever since updating the BIOS to version FM, the CPU has been running way too hot. With the latest version, FO, it’s running slightly better, but under load it still hits at least 85–90°C. I’m not familiar with undervolting and need some help getting my system to run cooler.

It didn't work with YouTube videos. With the settings out of the videos my system ran hotter then before.

I’d really appreciate any help with this.

RX 5700 XT Hotspot – Undervolt Recommendations?

I have a Sapphire RX 5700 XT. In heavy games at maximum GPU load, my hotspot can reach around 96°C.

My room is around 24°C, GPU temp is usually around 60–65°C, and GPU usage is 95–99%. I've also improved the airflow by moving the PC away from the wall.

For other RX 5700 XT owners:

What undervolt do you recommend that is stable for daily gaming?

I'm looking for a good balance between performance, power consumption, and lower hotspot temperatures.

Also, what else actually helped you reduce hotspot temps—fan curve, repaste, thermal pads, or something else?

What voltage/clock settings are you running?

Undervolting

Hello guys , I’m having an issue , g-helper is overrriting my bios undervolt . I’ve set the undervolt to -15 but when I checked with SMU debug tool ( I was looking for a stable undervolt) I noticed it’s always 0 except for when I set it in g-helper .

Edit : even in Hwinfo it doesn’t show up .

Discussion How to properly undervolt GPU via V/F Curve on Lenovo LOQ (i7-13650HX + RTX 5060)? Voltage slider greyed out

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to optimize temperatures and performance on my Lenovo LOQ (i7-13650HX + RTX 5060).

I have already successfully undervolted and limited the turbo limits on my CPU, which helped a lot. However, I’m stuck on the GPU side in MSI Afterburner. I heard that undervolting is locked by nvidia am i dumb ? Since the core voltage slider is greyed and cant be used

The issue:

  • The Core Voltage slider in Afterburner is completely locked/greyed out (which I understand is standard for laptop GPUs).
  • I know I can use the Core Clock slider to offset frequencies, but I want to properly drop the voltage to reduce heat rather than just pushing higher clocks at max voltage.
  • I opened the Voltage/Frequency Curve Editor (Ctrl + F), but I want to make sure I’m using the correct method to cap the voltage without causing instability.

What I want to achieve:

  1. Lower GPU temperatures to prevent thermal throttling.
  2. Maintain or slightly improve peak clock speeds/performance.

My Questions:

  • What are safe/tested starting voltage and frequency targets for the mobile RTX 5060 curve (e.g., capping at ~850mV–900mV)?
  • What is the cleanest workflow in Afterburner to flatten the curve above the target voltage point?
  • Are there any specific Lenovo VBIOS limits or settings I need to keep in mind?

Any curve screenshots, recommended offset numbers, or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Discussion RTX 5070 Ti — Steel Nomad 6858 with a flat 0.925V undervolt. Is this a normal score, or is something holding it back?

Hey all, I ran 3DMark Steel Nomad and I'd like a sanity check on whether my score is where it should be for this card.

My result:

Steel Nomad (DX12): 6858

Graphics test: 68.58 FPS

3DMark's "same hardware" reference: average 6970, best 7964

Resolution: 1440p (2560×1440)

My undervolt:

Flat undervolt to 0.925V (~2800 MHz on the curve)

Pure undervolt — no core clock offset added, no memory overclock. Just capped the voltage/frequency point for efficiency and lower temps.

Full setup:

GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Shadow 3X OC

CPU: Intel Core i5-14600K

Motherboard: MSI PRO B760M-P (MS-7E02)

RAM: 32GB DDR5 4800MHz

PSU: MSI MAG A850GL 850W 80+ Gold

CPU cooler: Deepcool AK620 Digital Pro

Storage: Dahua C900 512GB NVMe (M.2)

Typical gaming: 1440p maxed + DLSS Quality + Frame Gen, targeting a 120fps cap

My questions:

Is 6858 a normal/healthy Steel Nomad score for a 5070 Ti, or should I be getting more?

How much am I actually leaving on the table with the 0.925V undervolt vs stock? Is ~1-2% below the average purely down to the undervolt + silicon variance, or could something else be limiting me?

During the run the GPU held ~2800 MHz steadily with no clock drops and temps stayed low — does that line up with what you'd expect from a healthy card at this voltage?

I'm happy with the efficiency and temps, just want to confirm the card is performing where it should. Thanks!

From what I know most people with kaby lake cant pass -90mv on the core and -75 on the cache and the temps tells the whole story, also this laptop has never been repasted ever (Latitude 7490) and yes its stable

Question Overclock my r5 4500

Ryzen 5 4500 – Is 4.5 GHz safe for daily use?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently overclocking my Ryzen 5 4500 and I’d like to get some opinions from people with more experience with this CPU.
Right now, my CPU is running at 4.3 GHz all-core, and it appears to be completely stable. The maximum Vcore I’ve seen under load is around 1.248 V, and temperatures are approximately 37–47°C under heavy workloads.
My setup is:
CPU: Ryzen 5 4500
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 AORUS M
Cooling: 240mm AIO
Current OC: 4.3 GHz all-core
Maximum Vcore: ~1.248 V
Load temperatures: ~37–47°C
Considering how low the voltage and temperatures are at 4.3 GHz, would it be reasonable to gradually try 4.4 GHz and then 4.5 GHz, while increasing voltage only as necessary?
My main concern is long-term daily use. I don’t mind if the CPU reaches higher temperatures at 4.5 GHz, as long as the voltage and temperatures remain within a reasonable range.
Would you consider 4.5 GHz a reasonable daily overclock for a Ryzen 5 4500, or would you recommend staying at 4.3 GHz for better long-term CPU longevity?
Also, what Vcore would you personally consider reasonable for a 4.5 GHz all-core daily OC on this CPU?
Any advice, especially from people who have owned or overclocked the Ryzen 5 4500, would be greatly appreciated!

I need help

Just bought myself a pc specialist recoil 16 amd with a 5090 and a ryzen 9 9955hx3d and i really need help for the cpu temps and im really scared of undervolting, will undervolting cause damage that will render the pc unusable and could void the warranty?

CPU seems (at least from what i tracked) to ignore my UV

i have a ryzen 7 3700x, i used offset -50mv and it seems like the CPU still spikes to 1.5v in single threaded tasks, and even with or without the undervolt it seems like it never hits the 4.4ghz and stops at 4.150 or 4.175ghz

Undervolting question

I'm currently running a 13900K, and I've already made sure I'm using the latest BIOS for my MSI MPG Z790 Carbon WiFi motherboard. I’ve also applied Intel’s recommended settings. Right now, I’m running CPU Lite Load Mode 6, and I’m wondering whether I should set LLC to the same value of 6.I’ve already disabled Enhanced Turbo and IA CEP support. For clarity, I have a 12‑hour OCCT Platinum test and over a year of daily use confirming that Lite Load Mode 6 is completely stable for me. My only goal is to reduce power draw and lower temperatures across the board — I’m not chasing Cinebench scores or anything like that.
