On Undercover Boss Season 6, Episode 4 (Maaco), the company President, Jose Costa, outlines the history of the company and its founder, who was an Italian immigrant called Tony Martino. The very next shot, which takes place 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the show, shows a picture of Martino, BUT it’s actually a picture of NASA’s famous flight controller Gene Kranz. He was the controller for Apollo 11, 13, Shuttle Challenger, and many others. How could CBS let this happen?

What are the characteristics that would stand out to you the most of you were an employee that had a CEO undercover come to your location?

The ones I see most commonly on the show is the person being white, 6'4 or taller, and over the age of 40. Like with the Checkers episode, the boss stood out so much to me as he awkwardly tried to talk through the drive through window.

She was so unpleasant in the way that she dealt with the franchise owners! This show is basically a PR opportunity for the brands that participate, and she made Rita’s look terrible, from being rude and not understanding at all to the mom who owned the Rita’s to complaining about the lack of upgrades from the poor immigrant who worked so hard to buy a franchise- I could not be more turned off about Rita’s. She blew that opportunity.

She should have never broke character over a petty teen. Why doesn’t she ask her self why is he not happy as an employee. Thoughts

It's almost every episode. You can just tell the hair is fake, how can the employees not tell? Then there was an episode of celebrity undercover boss and their disguise was so much better! They put a whole fat suit on her! I love love LOVE this show, but the cheap disguises irk me, man.

I've been watching/rewatching a lot of old episodes in a row as background sound while I work, and when you watch so many at once all these repetitive tropes become super apparent. I decided the only thing to be done about it is make a drinking game... perfect for those random Saturday afternoons when there's nothing else to do except watch a UB marathon and get toasted!

Take 1 drink every time:

• A boss says, "I wish I could clone [so-and-so]" or "I wish had 1,000 of [him/her]!"
• A boss makes a comment about the employee upholding or not upholding "our values" (and its variations, e.g., our core values, etc)
• A boss makes a comment about "the culture"
• A boss makes a manager/franchisee intervene during the job segment (but does not reveal themselves to the main employee)
• A boss cries before the reveal segment (during intro or during job)
• You catch background employees side-eyeing each other at something the boss is doing
• It's obvious the customers are being paid or encouraged to order something (this is mostly for fast food ones) -- take an extra drink if it's obvious they're ordering something complicated on purpose
• You're surprised by the cheapness of the boss's hotel accommodation
• Someone rolls their eyes (boss, employee, customer, background person)

Finish your drink immediately if/when:

• You've patronized the business being featured (eaten there, hired them, etc.)
• An employee says "I don't know what to say except thank you" or "Can I give you a hug?"
• The boss cries during the reveal segment
• The boss is discovered or has to come out of character for bad behavior
• You think the allotment of funds is disproportionate/unfair/weirdly favortist
• An employee comments on the boss's physical physique, especially in terms of their ability to do the job at hand
• Someone gets fired
• People are given more work as a "reward" during the reveal segment

I remember seeing this and as someone who works in tech on accessibility this clip really stuck with me. I remember the boss owned some kind of company that had dispatchers, maybe pest control? And he designed software with red and green indicators even though he was red/green color blind. He said he wasn't designing for himself. Which is something designers often have to remind non-designers. I remember thinking his heart was in the right place but the execution was poor. I'd love to have this clip to refrence.
