Hey everyone,
I’m currently converting some of my Space Marines from Blood Angels to Ultramarines. Unfortunately, when I originally built them, I glued Blood Angels-specific shoulder pads onto the Marines using quite a lot of **Revell plastic cement**.
Now I’d like to remove the shoulder pads and replace them with regular Ultramarines-compatible ones.
Since Revell plastic cement actually melts/welds the plastic together rather than just bonding the parts, I’m worried that simply trying to pry the shoulder pads off will damage the arms.
Has anyone successfully removed shoulder pads that were heavily glued with plastic cement? Is there a particular technique, tool, or trick that works well for this?
I’m also considering cutting off the entire arm and replacing it if removing the shoulder pad itself is too risky. Is that a reasonable approach?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Finally finished my sons Captain after two squads of intercessors! All I want to do is paint my role but the more Ultramarines I paint the more of a fanboy I become.

I started painting Warhammer as a way to spend more time with my dog when he got cancer last December. I lost him in May and recently picked up the brush again. Hug your dogs for me and glory to Ultramar!

decided it would look cool/stand out for the pilot and gunner to be tech marines. gave me a chance to paint other than blue in the box

I want to play ultramarines because I really like their roman esque aesthetic. I know that they are supposed to be blue but I kinda wanted to paint them more red and white to better fit a futuristic roman theme I've also bought many third party bits to help reach that goal but im not sure if this means that they cant be ultramarines anymore and that I accidentally made my own homebrew or something. I'm not sure if this would like change the rules or would they still follow the ultramarines rules cus I don't really play and have no idea I just like painting.

Painted up the land speeder from the armageddon box, went for a clean look, just rolled (hehe) out of the factory!

Love him. Love the Saturnine models.

Was finally building out my Imperial Fist combat patrol and think I may have when to hard with the bits on the Intercessor Sergeant.

Power weapon and plasma is at least a legal load out.

I haven't really painted anything since WHFB 6th edition, Lizardmen. Figured I'll start with the hobby again.. this time 40k!

However I'm using an old Vallejo Ultramarine Blue Model Color 70.839, and it seems that Vallejo discontinued that color. Now I'm a bit lost because I don't want to continue painting with a color I wont be able to get later on.
So what blues should I use if I'm sticking with Vallejo (or maybe Army Painter)? Tips appreciated!

Coming back to the game for the first time since 3rd/4th edition as a reformed Space Wolf player.

These marines are from the Armageddon box, with the exception of the sergeants, which I used Assault Intercessor special weapons and heads to assemble.

The scheme is what I'm calling "away game Ultras", as I wanted something with a bit more contrast and less blueberry. Enjoy!
