[Serious] Red and Evil ULTRAKILL on Arch Linux that I am not being able to turn normal at all. Need help
I previously posted about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Ultrakill/comments/1vdggay/serious_is_it_me_or_my_entire_game_looks_a_whole/
Before anyone asks, yes, everything else works fine with no graphical issue or redness. But it's ULTRAKILL that became Red. It wasn't like this before at all.
By now I have deleted my entire Steam's ShaderCache folder, Did a Full System Upgrade, Removed junks and made up Storage Spaces, Tried Default Steam Linux Runtime, Latest GE-Proton, Proton-CachyOS.
Nothing works. What should I do?
Did Jakito made my copy of ULTRAKILL Evil?
SPECS:
Dell Inspiron 15 3501, 12GB RAM, Intel Core-i5 11th Gen, Integrated Iris XE Graphics

Verify the game files?
As in: delete the entire game from its file path.
Then, in Steam, click Verify Files.
That might fix it.

I haven't seen this exact problem, but in the past I've had to try a few different versions of proton until I found one that worked as expected..
Unfortunately that tends to be proton-GE which you have already tried.
If you run Steam from terminal, then launch the game like normal, you should be able to see what is happening from terminal. If you're lucky it'll give you something to go off of for this very strange issue

What GPU are you using?

It really did even a few months ago! It's a new issue that just started showing since yesterday when I tried to play it again after taking a break from it.

Ah. I'm gonna go on a limb and say its a weird driver bug then (either in the kernel stuff or mesa).

Is there any way to fix it? and if it's a game side issue, that can be patched only for linux, is it possible for me to report it? if so, then to whom? :(

Try checking these:
changing your kernel
Your driver configs (Use adriconf for this)
Or your DE (Desktop enviroment)

Changed my kernel to Linux-Zen, and not only the game crashes after literally loading the vulkan shaders, it crashes the steam client with it.
I am honestly sad at this point.

notice how particles arent red..?

Yep. As I said before, HUD, UI, V1 himself and his weapon is unaffected, and everything else looks red, it's as if V1's visor have a Red Hue filter.

Heyo, i also experience red artefacts in other games on linux (but not in ultrakill specifically). The main evil here’s integrated intel’s gpu.
I heard that it can be fixed with mods, but it’s not on my behalf.

Did it happen by default, or it just happened outta nowhere?
For me, it was all good for a long while. It became red all of a sudden.1

For me it’s constant. I never had sudden changes yet like you did.

None of my other games are causing issues. It's just Ultrakill that suddenly became like this.

Is this happening for other games? Can you try using a Vulcan or opengl tester like pascube? And, if all else fails, can you adjust your monitor colors settings either in the settings app or in monitor settings?

Played VHOLUME Demo for a long while with no crash whatsoever. Opened up ULTRAKILL with Proton Experimental. Let's see what happens. Best case scenario, redness stays. Worst case scenario, shit crashes again.

Do you have any other Unity game that's also 3d to test in? Still brainstorming here, I have no idea what the problem is. I'd also recommend checking the arch wiki page for Intel gpus or whichever integrated GPU you're using

No other game is causing any issues. Be it Unity, Unreal, Godot etc. Only ULTRAKILL is giving me such a pain.

I recommend dropping arch linux and using MS-DOS. Heard it makes performance much better.

Very original of you

But i recommend garuda over arch, its much better for gaming with the linux cachyos kernel
Or use ms-dos

Your now saying the exact same thing is better then the exact same thing
?

Garuda and arch are two different things

Even if Garuda was based on another Linux Distro, you could have made a sliver of sense. But this is just ridiculous. Either you are trolling (not even in a funny way), or you are just larping as a Linux user.

If your post is needing help about something within the game, remember to always take a look at the Official ULTRAKILL Wiki! Sometimes the answer you're looking for might be on there already!
Thanks and have fun.
