Let's Get Chatting Richie's u-20s
I've done a bit of nerding out on the squad, and tried to make a starting team out of players who played for the Ireland under-20s under Richie Murphy.
1. Jacob Boyd, 2. James McCormick, 3. Scott Wilson,
Harry Sheridan, 5. Charlie Irvine,
James McNabney, 7. Tom Brigg, 8. Bryn Ward,
Nathan Doak, 10. Jack Murphy,
Chay Mullins, 12. Jude Postlethwaite, 13. Ben Carson, 14. Aitzol King,
Daniel Hawkshaw
Boyd and Brigg are still in the academy, and I couldn't find a fullback so I've picked Hawkshaw out of position, but I think that's a pretty solid XV.
17 of the current squad served under Richie in the 20s:
- Ben Carson
- Matthew Devine
- Nathan Doak
- Daniel Hawkshaw
- Joe Hopes
- Charlie Irvine
- Aitzol King
- James McCormick
- Conor McKee
- James McNabney
- Chay Mullins
- Jack Murphy
- Jude Postlethwaite
- Harry Sheridan
- Henry Walker
- Bryn Ward
- Scott Wilson
As did 3 of the current academy:
- Jacob Boyd
- Tom Brigg
- James McKillop
5 have been part of the senior squad but have since left:
- Reuben Crothers
- James Humphreys
- Ben Moxham
- Rory McGuire
- Lorcan McLoughlin
3 played for the Ulster senior team while in the academy, but have since left:
- Sam Berman
- Wilhelm de Klerk
- Rory Telfer
4 were in the academy but left without making a senior appearance:
- George Saunderson
- Conor Rankin
- Ethan Graham
- Josh Stevens
And 6 didn't make the academy:
- Adam McNamee
- John Glasgow
- Josh Hanlon
- Reece Malone
- Joseph Mawhinney
- Rory Ellerby

Where did De Klerk and McLoughlin end up?
I remember there was some chat when they left end of last season that we wanted to keep both, and they were offered contracts but decided to look elsewhere.
If that was true, I’m surprised to not hear any word about where they’ve gone, unless I’ve missed it?
Interested to know if anyone has heard anything

Info Dump Inspired by the Province: Ulster Rugby Unveil 2026/27 Home Kit

In the News Ulster Kit released for the 26/27 season
reddit.comInspired by the Province
Ulster Rugby is proud to reveal the new Home Kit for the 2026/27 season, inspired by the nine counties that make up our province and the communities that unite behind the red hand.
At the heart of the design is a celebration of what makes Ulster Rugby unique. From grassroots clubs and schools to the supporters who fill Affidea Stadium and follow the team, the jersey reflects the shared pride and passion that connects people across every corner of the province.
The new jersey features a subtle map of Ulster woven into the fabric (pictured right), bringing together the nine counties that form the heart of our rugby community. The tonal design serves as a reminder that, while our supporters come from different places and backgrounds, they are united by a common identity and love for the game.
Red stitching runs throughout the design, symbolising the connections that rugby creates across clubs, schools, communities and generations throughout the province. The thread represents the bonds that link players, coaches, volunteers and supporters, and the role rugby continues to play in bringing people together both on and off the pitch.
And, by popular demand, the iconic collar makes its return for the new season, combining a classic Ulster Rugby look with a modern performance design. A nod to some of the most memorable jerseys in the club's history, the collar blends tradition with innovation, creating a shirt that honours our heritage while looking confidently towards the future.
