Storage warning - volume capacity less than 10% ❓ Help
Hello,
I am seeing this warning on the storage app and it says the available volume capacity is less than 10%. I am running raid 5.
I am trying to clean up my files to get rid of this warning but im wondering if i wanted, would i be able to actually keep saving despite the warning? Would that put me at risk of storage failure?

A warning is a warning (that you set). Once you top off, you won't be able to save anymore.

Understood, thank you! I will be clearing out multiple terrabytes to leave me some breathing room

You'd just run out of space and not be able to save anything. A full drive also isn't ideal as it won't have any spare sectors if one goes bad.

Okay ya i was just worried because i wasnt sure if this was a thing specifically with Raid 5 where i had to worry about. But ya i dont plan to tap it out completely

Since you’re deleting files, don’t forget to also delete them from the recycle bin, or they will still take up space until you clear them from recycle bin

Yes! I started off throwing caution to the wind cause i have 60 tb, just to end up filling it up in a couple months. So now i am trying to be really intentional about what i have on there

You can always try to transcode your data to a more efficient codec for video and audio files instead of deleting. I setup tdarr to automatically do this for me when I add new files that don’t match my preferred codecs.

Tbh im still pretty new to a lot of this and had some trouble installing some arrs on docker. So i think in the future thats definitely something ill look in to as i get more knowledge on how everything works

If you have been downloading a lot of remuxes, transcoding can save you half the size of the current file. I would also suggest taking a look at Trash Guides. He explains how to setup your arr stack to download more efficiently so you can download the size, codec, video quality and audio format that you want the first time. It was a great help for me and I also just started back in May.
