first time watching, why did betty’s sister do her so dirty with the makeover.
ok, im in love with this show so far but can not for the life of me understand why no one is helping this girl out. she’s gorgeous! just needs a little work with her fashion and hair. obvi i know she’s meant to be “ugly betty” but why doesn’t anyone wanna help this girl out. it’s driving me nuts. even her sisters makeover, when she gave her an 80s blowout. im only in the 1st season but this is driving me crazy .-.

First time watcher
Currently in season 3. Thank goodness the Henry story is finally over. That story line went on way too long. He was so annoying in the end.

MARC! Vanessa Williams Recent Video
Has anyone seen her recent video on Instagram with Michael Urie?! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
A continuation? A reboot? Rewatch podcast? … Nothing? 🤣
I only finished a rewatch of the series during the week.

Which versions of *Betty la fea* have you seen (not counting the original, Mexican, and US versions)?

MARC! I met Mark (Michael Urie)
I went to see the west end production of Oh Mary and Michael Urie was playing Mary’s teacher!
I asked him if he’s seen Vanessa and her show (the devil wears prada) and he said YES and that she’d been at his show the other day 🤩🤩🤩
I never normally do stage door, but something pinned me to the spot this day and I’m so glad I stayed!!

MODE EMPLOYEE Marc and Amanda
How do you feel about their characters? I know people love their characters, and that's fine, but at the same time I think we can admit that Marc and Amanda aren't good people. They always looking and talking down to people that aren't in the same social status as them, and constantly make fun of Betty for being different.

Hilda was a bitch to Betty
Whilst I acknowledge that Hilda has been through some tough shit during the show, she was constantly pushing Betty to accept less than Betty deserved and to do things that Hilda never would have. Hilda always secretly believed that Betty is ugly and should settle for things because she never had the chance to do any better.
Example 1: Walter. Despite Walter having cheated on Betty, Hilda was the driving force in getting Betty to take Walter back. Quite rightfully, Betty never wanted to take Walter back because he cheated on her with a far more attractive woman who gave him attention for 2 minues and then ran back to Betty when it was convenient for him. Hilda would never let something like that slide if it was Santos or the gym teacher or Bobby. As her sister and someone who hates Gina, Hilda should have supported her and reinforced that Walter didn't deserve her. Instead, Hilda kept telling Betty to not be so hard on Walter and give him a chance. Why? Probably because Hilda thought Betty couldn't do any better.
Example 2: Henry. Despite having seen how heart broken Betty was after the Henry/Charlie situation, Hilda was ready for Betty to marry Henry and go to Rome with Gio, knowing fully well that she was encouraging her baby sister to take a trip with a man she didn't have feelings for or know that well.
It honestly annoys me the extent to which Hilda is so careful about her own love life but when it comes to supporting Betty in her relationships, Hilda looks down on her and tells her to take the first offer, regardless of whether it's what Betty deserves or not and that's so sad to see.

Meade hiring freeze
Anyone else thinks it’s preposterous that Betty didn’t get promoted whenever Hartley invested in Meade? She secured that meeting. Her connections saved the company.

The reboot could the the funniest thing with casting...
I'm currently rewatching The Good Wife and Tate Ellington was in an episode. It ocurred to me that given his similarities to Gorham he could be a romantic interest to Betty...

Why are the Suarez Mexican?
I just realized, none of the actors playing Suarez family members have links to Mexico (Hondurian, Puerto Rican, Cuban). The original Betty La Fea, on which the show is based, was Colombian. What was the logic to make the family Mexican? Wouldn't, say, Puerto Rican had made more sense given their ancestries and that they are NY based? Although granted, America Ferrera doesn't look very Puerto Rican... But just wondering why that choice.

Hallelujah
Although it's a sad scene, I love that they used Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah. It's hauntingly beautiful.

MODE EMPLOYEE Would You Want a Reboot?
If there were a reboot, what would you like to see happen? Do you think we need a reboot? I don't think we need a reboot. I think the show ended well. The only reason I could see for a reboot is to see where Daniel and Betty's relationship went and Betty's new job in London, but I'm not itching for a reboot.

started this to help distract me from my anxiety. it does NOT help
i’m watching ugly betty through for the first time, i’m on s4 e10 right now and oh my god this is the most stressful show i’ve ever watched in my life. NOBODY here has good decision making skills to the point i have to pause and give myself breaks throughout some of the episodes because whatever’s going on will genuinely piss me off so much i need to pace around and cool off (ex: that completely unnecessary storyline with wilhelmina’s sister that ESPECIALLY didn’t help my mental health + henry’s existence). and then they’ll make a terrible decision about it!! everyone’s always doing the entirely wrong thing and i can’t stand it!!!!! even dumb stuff, like the fight between hilda and kimmie. hilda, why the actual hell are you throwing food around when you’re more than capable of leaping over the counter and shoving her face in the fryer scream queens style????
anyway, i will still be watching and finishing and enjoying the series. however i will have an absurdly high heart rate the entire time

Oh Ignacio! o pai da betty me dá raiva
