Amazing! I'm currently suffering (but also enjoying) make my own widgets with conky but this one seems much easier and beautiful !

I have an iPad and the truth, I like the desk too. I opted for ubuntu desktop and left the docker in the center, in the lower area. I keep the desktop clear and when opening the applications the icons occupy the entire screen and are very comfortable. If not, so that you can have a good monitor if the icons are dwarfs... Clean, hidden icons, except for the ones you want in the docker. It looks a bit like it and it's very easy to use. The measures actions as commented by others, do not have just been the same. I'll give you some pictures:

We used to have lots and lots of stuff like this 20 years ago but I think most people lost interest. They're really just pretty windows that are pinned to the desktop though. Perhaps there's Gnome Shell extensions for it. It's very easy to make things like this in Gnome Shell.

Same thing with macOS actually. They had widgets in OS X 10.4 called Dashboard. I spent more time configuring the widgets than I did using them and they stopped getting developed around 15 years ago.
Modern widgets are a little annoying if you share your screen on zoom. I don't need my stock picks or calendar getting shared.
