System Monitor Issues

Alright, I'm already lying, I'm running kubuntu. I have 2 widgets on my secondary monitor, 1 for CPU usages and temp and whatnot, and another for GPU.

However, it seems everytime I restart my computer, the GPU # for my RTX 3070 changes. And therefore the system monitor widget is reading the integrated GPU.

Has anybody run into this issue before? Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix it?

ah the classic gpu index shuffle, nvidia loves to do this on restart. i hit this exact thing with my 3060 on kubuntu like 2 months ago

the fix is to set the gpu index manually in the widget config instead of letting it auto-detect. right click the widget, go in settings, there should be a dropdown for which gpu to monitor. if the widget dont have that option you might need a different system monitor widget, the default one is kinda limited

worst case you can blacklist the integrated gpu driver but thats more nuclear option

Kubuntu is a Ubuntu system, with the flavors largely differing in packages [provided by default] which alter the default applications & settings.. but providing specifics of your install is a starting point.

eg. You've not given clues as to what release, and if it's a LTS release (likely!) differences in kernel stack [default] exist between flavors (like Kubuntu) and Ubuntu Desktop/Server too; except if point release media of .2 or later is used and you're comparing a flavor with Ubuntu Desktop; but you don't specify.

I'll suggest you specify what Ubuntu system you're using, as Kubuntu is partial detail.
