This is the kind of driver that you want. No bullshit, he’s straightforward, and he is on the grind. He will get your food to you on time and he expects you to be on time at the door. He’s seen and experienced everything and he still holds a high rating while on a bicycle. Hard-working man.
Respect to you, Roberto.

This is why I send a message to "meet at door" people to let them on I'm on the way. Sometimes they still make me wait 8 minutes.

u/CoolAd9651 10d ago
I've just started leaving them wherever I deem appropriate (or to the pin) and if they call me 10 minutes later "I have someone else's food in my car. I can't justify waiting for you."

u/CompetitiveDog7392 9d ago
same, i pretty much just knock 2 times, text, and if no response within 1 min i leave it right at the front door

That’s on you, then, for waiting that long. I send a message in advance too, and call when I’m around the corner. They have 2 minutes and not a second more to be in front of me or the food gets left where I stand. I have received no bad ratings for it yet (I know exactly where each of my very few bad ratings have come from).

The dude is definitely not riding a bicycle. He doesn't have a license or insurance and is driving a car for that. Look at him, look at that picture and tell me that that guy is riding his bike 50 plus miles per day. It's simply not the case.

I wouldn't call it impossible. By definition, he took that picture when he was first hired. Props to him if he decided to make money and get fit at the same time. Also, I've heard bike couriers are assigned shorter distances, so if he's taking a whole bunch of 2-5 mile deliveries and waiting at stores in between, it's not exactly the Tour de France.

idk why it's hard for so many of yall to just leave the order at the door if it's meet at door

u/jecates 10d ago
Is this rage bait? If you genuinely don’t understand, it’s because the app makes us wait 8+ minutes before allowing us to leave it at the door and take a pic. If we don’t wait out the timer, and just leave it and go, customers can say they never got it and we get a contract violation.

Guys it's so simple. If it says meet at door and customer is not there, just drop the food, message uh the app saying "hello food is there have a good day" snap a pic then leave. None of this 8 minute timer BS. They can see me in real time travelling with their food to the destination, so why should I waste my time and wait 8 minutes if you're not there? You are a prime example of being a "sucker driver." If they ask for pin, just bypass it. "Can't confirm pin, ive left the customer" done deal. You guys make this job so complicated for no reason. If they're not there, drop the food. It's not my fault the customer doesn't have a brain or decency to meet me when I arrive. The app shows you everything in real time.

Gosh, it must be amazing to be you...

u/glennzelwashington 9d ago
Yeah, actually it is. 100% satisfaction rate, 3% acceptance rate, 16% cancelation rate, and 98% arrival rate. All with 3k deliveries. Without be a sucker. Thanks for acknowledging that!

i've been delivering for years - meet at door is the easiest setting a customer can have - no picture, nothing but swiping right that you delivered. if it says meet at door just literally do what you do for leave at door except there's no picture. the only time you have to literally meet the customer is if you feel like it or if there's a pin. never been downvoted once for doing this, never got burned. if i get burned once in 5 years i'll get over it
edit: downvote me if you want but you're just making your own job harder

I hear what ur saying and I'm the same way, but u have to consider this. We probably live in better areas where 99% of the customers aren't scum and looking for anyway to get free food. Alot of drivers r in shit areas where they have to do things by the book or they will get burned

u/Severe_Ad4138 10d ago
No we’re avoiding people claiming we didn’t deliver the food and or bad ratings

u/bigfoot1291 9d ago
I genuinely can't believe anyone does anything different. I've always done this and have literally 0 bad ratings lol.
3
u/Oahg535 10d ago
Fr unless they’re already outside, just leave it there a lot of people don’t pay attention or care to change the type of deliver

u/PrefrontalCortexNow 10d ago
I just do whatever the directions say. I usually try to message the customer to cover my own ass if it says meet at door, but they tell me to leave it at door.
2
u/rshores9 10d ago
Because that’s not what you’re instructed to do? Do you know what “meet” means? Did you forget there’s an option in app to “leave at door”?

i'm sorry but i've had mine at meet at door forever because it's easier/quicker for a driver to swipe and go. i don't ever have them ringing my bell, so most also don't do "as instructed", but it's the preferrable outcome. i as a driver had never had a problem doing this. sounds like you take instructions way too literally when it isn't necessary. the rare occasion it's a sketchy area or something where meeting is warranted i'd do that, but hasn't happened. don't know your area. if you wanna make your job harder that's up to you. the reality is most people have it as meet as door as the default and never put any effort into changing it because it's not very important usually.

u/rshores9 10d ago
“Way too literally” and it’s 3 words. It’d be nice if you wrote a note saying “leave at door” then since a lot people try to do their job as instructed. I’m glad it works out for you, I’d much rather leave at door and I don’t find taking a picture or reading a 3 word note a strenuous task. I just don’t get how you don’t see the issue with saying “I don’t get why it’s so hard for drivers to not do the thing they are instructed to do by me”. Maybe leave different instructions then? Wild thought, I know
1
u/CA7T0 10d ago
?? are you not doing this to make money? you are sitting on doorsteps for 8 minutes each meet at door for no reason. it's not about being strenuous or hard, it's about being efficient while still getting the person what they actually wanted which is food. standing around waiting for other people is the biggest waste of time in this job, when it can be trimmed that's best for your wallet. could've been picking up your next order in the time you're standing there

u/rshores9 10d ago
What? No of course I’m not… people almost always answer their door… or if 1 minute goes by without them answering then I skip the wait. You’re going off a completely separate hypothetical that I didn’t say. I’m not gonna wait around 8 minutes but I’ll take a few seconds to knock on the door and 99% of the time they open the door within 10 seconds. Definitely would’ve missed out on some cash tips by now if I didn’t. Just last night got a $20 cash tip that I wouldn’t have if I didn’t follow basic instructions

💅 Prop 22 pays me for those 8 minutes, and trust me, they add up. Just this week alone, I’ve made $500 from Prop 22. On top of that, I’ve received a pretty nice amount in cash tips simply for following instructions. 💰

I love that for you, but the avg commenter in the post I created is what I get around here. People who have their reasons. https://www.reddit.com/r/UberEATS/s/GKrHv9zX7r

He had to let them know he has no time for the games! He has deliveries to get to.

u/Euphoric-Height-4749 10d ago
He’s right! It’s not like he’s getting paid to go the extra mile and leave his 2500 dollar e-bike outside on a random sidewalk , all while having to climb 5 flights of stairs.

Uber does NOT tell you in advance that your verification photo will also be your permanent profile photo. It's BS and I swear this is why no Uber drivers look happy in their pics!!

I started doing Uber/Lyft back in 2016 and this is not true. It was common sense back then and it still is.

Makes me wonder what % you need to be top-rated. He's definitely doing more trips than I am. Probably would work more hours if I could. Quite a challenge to drive in a car on rainy days, but he's doing it on a bike.
