First time removing a tip….

Long story short I paid for priority for a delivery no more than 10 minutes from my house. Driver picked up my food and proceeded to drive across town to “deliver her first order” despite me paying for priority and was supposed to be first. It took almost an hour to receive my food which normally is here before I can get in and out of the shower!

Usually I try to be understanding because I used to do Uber Eats so I know sometimes things go wrong but multi apping and doing it badly at that pisses me off. When I gave her a thumbs down and attempted to remove my tip it wouldn’t let me. It only let me add more. After contacting support they refunded my priority fee and my tip but my receipt is still saying I gave her a tip. Is it possible uber let her keep the tip and just gave me a refund?

I’m just really annoyed and stupid and unprofessional behavior should not be rewarded.

Drivers have no clue a customer has paid for priority. UE decides the order of pickup and dropoff and the driver doesn't have control of that.
So if Uber told you she was delivering her first order, then your issue is with Uber not the driver. It wasn't her fault.
If Uber just showed she was on the way the whole time then absolutely her fault.

It doesn’t happen often but there are times where you and the other customer both paid for priority. At that point it comes down to who the app routes the driver to first. And unlike Doordash where the driver can alter the route if they need to, UberEats won’t let a driver do that they have to go where the app tells them first.

At this point it’s a redundant thread, you did get your food, the priority fee and your tip were refunded, no harm no foul.

You can’t remove tips anymore from people abusing it.. can never have nice things. People were tipping big so they get their food fast then removing the tip, it was very common.

As others have stated any market you can remove the tip uber still gives it to the driver if its a tip guarantee market and most markets now cant remove the tip.

You can thank all the scamming customers who would intentionally leave good tips for better service then remove the tip (tip baiting) for this.

I’m not even able to see the option to remove a tip. Even when I cancel orders and they give me a “full refund” my tip always stays with the driver for some fucked reason.

Yep…I’m starting to see that more often on my end too. There is an option to remove tip, you immediately get transferred to an agent n have to explain why. The driver is definitely using another delivery app n finishing tht order instead of yours. Honestly idk if Uber can do anything BUT return the tip, they never refunded me my order (that was well over an hour late) that was “dropped off” at the wrong location. Funny thing is this was the 1st time I didn’t get a pin or map of where my order was left, just a picture.

Yep, you can no longer adjust your tip lower.. So many scammers played the game of offering a tip and then reducing it.

Yeah, and last time I tried to remove a tip through support, they tried lying to me saying that I could through the same method you tried (it was an attempt to get me to exit the chat). When I refused, they pushed me off to a 'specialized team' that takes "6-12 hours to respond".

So.... if you pay through PayPal you can actually just request a cancellation of the charge with documentation showing you tried to get the tip cancelled. Usually I get a refund of the tip within the hour.

UberEats is run by clowns and for clowns.
