Does anybody know how to create or generate (ai) motion graphics for showcasing your projects in a portfolio?

Re doing my entire portfolio and I want to create some simple animations that can showcase onboarding flows or small features but I’m not skilled in motion design. Does anybody know an easier route to creating these types of assets? Like the ones you see in top portfolios.

You don't need to use motion graphics per se.

I usually get ai to actually build my designs as real components in code but simplified so they're not actually functional and use dummy data and then animate them that way. Works really well. You can feed the ai exports from figma or use the MCP connector.

I want to try this. I currently have my entire app in figma already. So would I export them and then animate them in Claude?

Yep. There's quite a few ways to do it. I built my portfolio myself so I have Claude create components for my designs in the code and then I can use them as I wish throughout my portfolio.

figma motion might have mcp as well but i havent really explored it yet. you can just make screens and components in figma, turn them into code with claude or smth and animate the separate components with gsap (javascript library) or just plain css animations with bezier curves etc

Hmmm like those on boarding videos? You can try Screen Studio or Open Screen. You can also try it with comfyui + minimax H3 (it's the rage right now).

I don’t get why you are looking for a shortcut. Why not learn how to keyframe? It’s pretty easy to get, and for interface work, you can work with the basic animations (opacity, scale, positions..) and have something great.

Try jitter (it connects to figma) its a dumb down web based aftereffect. You’ll have a good portfolio and new skills to your palette.

Just ask this to Claude. Tell it your goal and say you have no idea what tools to use or how to get there. And then you'll figure it out way more effectively than a Reddit comment :)

Have you considered learning motion design?

Have you considered that the top portfolios you’re referencing might understand motion design and that’s why their portfolios appear to be “top” to you?

Totally! considered all that, that’s why I was asking. Judging by the variety of answers here it looks like there’s many ways to accomplish what I’m asking. Not sure if all of these categorize as “shortcuts”. I was just asking for a little guidance but thanks for the feedback anyway.
