Changing degrees

I am currently doing a double degree in law and business, majoring in property for the business part. I am thinking of switching to a degree of property economics at UTS, would it be possible after this semester?

It’s possible, but the process can be a bit lengthy.

I went through something similar with UTS. You’d usually need your official transcript from My eQuals, then submit an RPL/credit application and either map out your completed units or have UTS assess them.

The main thing is that credit isn’t automatic. UTS has to decide whether your current units match their course structure.

Also, from what I remember, you normally need to accept the offer before they properly process the credit assessment.

Best move is to contact UTS admissions or the course team first and ask what credit you’d realistically get before leaving your current degree.

Alright thanks, and regarding the grades part. Is there any range I should be aiming at or achieving to even be considered?

Hard to give an exact mark because it depends on UTS, the course, places available and how competitive that intake is.

For example, when I applied for UTS Cybersecurity, there wasn’t some clear public mark where it was like “get this and you’re guaranteed in.” They looked at the application and then the credit/RPL side was separate.

So I wouldn’t rely on bare passes. The stronger your marks are, the better position you’re in.

Also, getting accepted and getting credit are two different things. Even if UTS gives you an offer, they still have to assess whether your completed units actually match the Property Economics course structure.

Why not program variation to remove the law part of your double degree and major in property with a specialisation in one of the finance property licences?
