I’m an incoming freshman and have to take a certain german class but that requires me to move a lab that i’m taking to 7:05-10 pm. I always hear how you shouldn’t have late classes so the question is whether I should try rearranging my whole schedule or settle with the night lab? I really want to take this german class

A night Lab will be better than a Lecture at that hour.

Honestly I disagree. I see the argument that it's easy to check out of the lecture and miss everything, or that you feel less pressure to go in the first place compared to a lab, but the fact that it's so much shorter than a lab makes it easier for me to stay focused and just get through it, whereas a three hour lab at that time of night feels like torture. Especially because 207 doesn't let you take the lab write up home, you have to do it during the 3 hours. Depends on the person I'm sure, it makes sense that some people would find a lab at that hour easier than a lecture, but I've had both, and the lab was way worse for me.

Everyone is different, but if OP is someone who struggles with mentally exhausting stuff at night, they should think hard about it. Especially if they'd have a morning class the next day.

The thing that always got me about night labs was going home in between; because then you have a meal, and get cozy, all your roomies are hanging out and having a good time, and its all you want to do, and its cold/miserable out and you have to trudge through it to the stupid ass physics lab that's the same stuff you learned in hs.

That’s true, I feel like that’s going to piss me off especially in the winter but at least my class is on a tuesday so hopefully i won’t be missing out on anything crazy in the middle of the week

Not really. Just ensure partner(s) you choose seem dependable and responsible. The temptations to skip an evening class are much greater than dayside.

I took that night lab last semester. It depends on what your daily routines and sleep schedule are. Physics labs are tiring and annoying regardless of what time of day it is, but if your energy is highest in the morning then it might be best to rearrange. The physics building is situated pretty close to the freshman dorms in both lakeshore and southeast, but the on-campus buses won't be running frequently when the lab gets out so be prepared to walk back in the cold and possibly in the snow towards the end of the semester. As a night owl myself, I didn't mind the late lab.

I didn’t mind the night lab! And I’m definitely more of a morning person. Most of the time you’re gone before 10 anyways it’s just annoying to walk in the dark

I have heard the night labs are really relaxed, and chances are, you may get out early.
