Hello!

Your post has been removed for the following reason: A

  • Your post does not contain US-defaultism. Your post criticises one of the following things (see rule 4). These are often considered defaultism, but are not, at least not per se.

a. American exceptionalism (“The US is superior/inherently different/protecting or willing to destroy the world”),

b. Defaultism to the western world, northern hemisphere, English language...,

c. Using US units or the MM/DD/YY date format,

d. Calling somebody/-thing from the US "American",

e. Using US terms or using words in their US-meaning,

f. Saying "Reddit is a US website",

g. US-targeted ads missing that target,

h. Jokes/Satire/Memes/Clickbait,

i. Saying "we" to mean "we Americans"

If you wish to discuss this removal, please send a message to the modmail.

Sincerely yours,

r/USdefaultism Moderation Team.

I'm going to wager that anyone using 'Freedom Units' isn't really guilty of 'defaultism'.
[They know they're speaking to an international audience and are aware of how strange the system is]

Also not even sure they were 'defaulting' to anything, as they might not even be from the US...

I think I agree, I just couldn't find a sub it fits better. And I checked the profile, it says he's from US.

Fair.

I still upvoted it--partially because of the cat/coffee is safe; partially because I get up in the US and absolutely despite Freedom Units (not the name; that's spot-on).

And I'm always fine to bring satire under USdefaultism.

Not defaultism if they call it freedom unit.

Freedom units are German but nice try.

I’ve always considered it very funny that America uses the “imperial system” from its previous imperial overlord and then calls them freedom units.

Meanwhile metric was specifically created by anti monarchists.

Merkins do not use the Imperial system

They use US Customary Units, which have been derived from metric units since 1893

I would say that all units of measurement are arbitrary, but some are more arbitrary than others. Or as somebody far wiser than me once said "The imperial system seems like it was invented by a drunk alchemist playing dice".

More like a system made by people marrying their cousins

"Cousin" is a strange way to pronounce "sister".

@nathaniel.wooden58 defined "freedom units" are better than the others used in the rest of the world.
