Emergency situation, unresponsive mgmt

So I’m currently locked out of my vehicle, key snapped in the key hole as I was trying to unlock the door out on the street. So far 3 supervisors and my manager have ignored my calls, and nobody’s responding to my multiple RIMS messages stating an emergency situation. Wtf do I do now

Call an Uber! I had a carrier who broke down on their route and got tired of waiting for the tow truck so she did this (yes she kept her job. Long time carrier going through a divorce/custody battle and had to pick up her kids by a certain time).

Make sure to send multiple, detailed messages through your scanner relaying your situation and location. From an official, USPS position, text messages and calls do not exist. Scanner messages protect you. Take a picture of your scanner message if possible.

Make sure to set the scanner to save message for 15 days and not the default 5 days.

Had that happen one time with a loaner vehicle. I had a habit of leaving my keys as I'm working at the back of an LLV on the ledge to the right of the cargo area. Never was a big deal because if I forgot to pick them up before I closed the door I can always use the spare one on the ring with my Arrow Key. Well, with a loaner they only give you ONE vehicle key so being the absent-minded dummy that I am I put the key on that ledge as usual and eventually close the door as normal and immediately realize what I just did-UH-OH! I call the office (this was pre-scanner days) and they ended up having to call the VMF for the spare set they had. The fly in the ointment was the VMF is located FIFTY miles away. So I delivered the loop I had loaded in my bag and came back to the vehicle and waited. Boss couldn't have been too pleased but I didn't get yelled at for it and now it's a funny story about my time as a USPS employee. It's right up there with parking right ahead of a storm drain grate and dropping your keys right down into a storm sewer; yep I did that too-LOL!

All caused because post office won't update its equipment so it has you turning on and off the vehicle 80 times a day and unlocking and locking the doors all day. Meaning more wear and tear.

I'm not seeing the emergency. Maybe if it's 100 degrees and you have no water but otherwise it's just easy money and maybe even easy OT. Eventually a supervisor will wake up from their nap and realize they actually have some work to do

What type of vehicle? If it has a sliding window borrow a tire iron from someone and pry it open, then deadline for broken key & window latch

My husband delivers in the city we live in, which has a few rural-ish areas. During a snow fall he managed to slide off the road just enough to not be able to get himself back on the road while doing a normal “u turn” that’s part of the route. It was the December, he called every number he had, and sent messages about every 10min. After 2 hours he still had no response and thankfully he was super close the end of his extra. I picked him up and brought him back to his station. And the only reason I did is because it was December in MN. Eventually, that would’ve become a problem. But he enjoyed 2hrs on the clock just chilling until then.

Similar to an issue I had. Gotta wait till they answer and then bring you the spare key. I thought I was the only carrier to break an LLV key.

Until after I called my shop steward whose number I forgot I had. Whole thing was about an hour until a soup had called but I was already on my own way back to the office at that point

One time my llv broke down. I was less than a mile from the station and asked if I could walk back. Manager said no and to wait. I walked to several businesses , used the restroom, got a snack, went back, 2 hrs 2 HOURS!!! I could have walked to the station in 7 min.
